I think I've developed a nice speed rush and can't wait to use it in games. Also it helps me on the other side of the ball on offense being able to block defensive ends that are coming fast off the line too. Our season last year went great! We made it to state, but lost the first round to Benilde-St. Margaret's. I would say our goal is to play in US Bank and make it as far as possible I really think the team can do it this year. We were a heavy junior dominated team and we are returning many key players. Individually I'm keeping my goals high.”
Lauer is trying to go out with a bang as a senior.
“This off season I've been working very hard in the weight room and on the field,” Lauer explained to Northstar Football. “I'm a lot faster and stronger then I was last season, but I still have a lot more work to do. I've attended lots of camps this summer and I think that's what I needed the most. I'm really working on my technique and using my hands on the defensive line. That's one thing I want to improve upon the most. Watching film from last year a lot of times I would get my arms caught up in all the mess and I really wouldn't use them. But I've really been focusing on that, and so far when I do I would say I'm really dangerous. I haven't lost a one on one pass rush at any camps this year so far, so I want to keep that streak going. I'm excited to get more competition at bigger camps and see how I do. My expectations as a team are to go undefeated in the regular season this year, make it to state and then make it to the bank. Individually I want to be first team. I want to get at least one sack a game, and 30-40 tackles. Also I want to not give up a sack this season. I usually keep track last season I think I gave up only a few, but I want to keep it at zero. Also it's always been my dream to play in the all star game and I think that would be really cool! But really I would be okay if I didn't achieve all of these as long as my team could make it far in state, but I know if I can achieve these we will have a good chance.”
