Heimbold has been the Stars’ top option in the running game since running back Jack Anderson suffered a season-ending injury in Week Six against Benilde-St. Margaret’s. Heimbold ran for 117 yards, added 81 passing yards and scored two total touchdowns for the Stars. With Rocori sporting a large defensive line, Heimbold ran the Stars’ ever offense to perfection and was one of the main reasons why Holy Angels is set to play in the Class 4A semifinal this Friday.
Running back Matt Koshiol– Rocori
Koshiol was matched up against a tough Holy Angels defense, but he found a way to find success nonetheless. Koshiol ran for 90 yards on 17 carries to lead the Rocori offense. Rocori didn't have the ability to put much together on offense, but most of the team's positive plays came as a result of Koshiol's skills in the backfield.
Center/linebacker Jack Aleman– Holy Angels
Aleman, in the words of head coach Jim Gunderson, has been playing like a “man possessed” over the last few weeks. Aleman has raised his level of play over the last couple of weeks, and has always seemed to be around the ball. Aleman recorded a team-high nine tackles to lead the Holy Angels defense, which also adding half a sack.
Defensive end Grant Mrozek– Rocori
Mrozek, a defensive back for Rocori, made an impact in the running game, as he led the Spartans with 14 total tackles and was a key factor in stopping the Holy Angels offense. While the Rocori defense as a whole struggled to stop heimbold and company, Mrozek did what he could to limit the Stars' options on offense.
Defensive end Mitch Hendrickson– Holy Angels
Hendrickson led a Holy Angels defensive line that presented problems for Rocori the whole evening. Hendrickson recorded 1 1/2 sacks during the contest, and helped limit Rocori to just three yards per carry and just 176 total yards in the contest. If Hendrickson, as well as his fellow linemates, can keep up their strong of strong play, Holy Angels should have a strong chance to keep up its solid streak of strong play.
