It’s been a rollercoaster season thus far around Minnesota.
The first and third week of games produced multiple upsets and changes in the team rankings, while the second and fourth weeks were somewhat chalky with favored teams winning most of the contests.
The three biggest movers in Week 4 came in the three largest classes. Blaine, St. Thomas Academy and Winona all recorded impressive wins over top-10 opponents. The Bengals throttled Cretin-Derham Hall 56-20 behind 303 yards and two touchdowns from quarterback Jack Haring. The Cadets continued to play impressive defense in their 21-0 shutout of Mahtomedi. STA, which moved to No. 2 in Class AAAAA, allowed less than 200 yards of total offense in the win.
The Winhawks, meanwhile, went on the road and handed No. 2 AAAAA Mankato West its first loss of the season, which bumped them to No. 3 in Class AAAA entering the second half of the season. Senior Terrell Hall was one of the difference makers with 160 receiving yards and a touchdown in the win.
