Northstar Football News has released its updated team rankings after the Week 5 games.
The contenders in the seven classes of Minnesota high school football appear to be stabilizing after another week of limited upsets across the state. The top-four teams at every level except Class AA and A remained unchanged.
Last week’s fifth-ranked teams Redwood Valley (AA) and Blooming Prairie (A) won tight games at home last week over highly-ranked opponents. The Cardinals outlasted No. 3 Pipestone Area 16-14 in overtime, while the Awesome Blossoms won 20-14 over No. 4 Goodhue, with quarterback Seth Peterson’s touchdown run with less than four minutes to play providing the difference. Both teams replaced the opponents they defeated in this week’s rankings.
