Annandale Is Too Much for Milaca, Wins 42-7: Game Recap (FREE)
In these sectional semifinals from Section 5 in Class 3A, I took my talents to Annandale to watch the Cardinals play the 4 seed, the Milaca Wolves. Might I add, if you are a high school football fan that wants to explore Minnesota for the best high school football atmosphere, you’ll want to make the trip to Annandale, as I left the stadium with a newfound respect for possibly the best atmosphere in Minnesota high school football. The stadium was packed full and the atmosphere was electric, to say the least.
Annandale started the charge by a 1-yard run by FB Lucas Bachel (2020, Sr.) to go up 7-0 over the Wolves. We then saw the first hook and ladder punt return of the year when it was returned by Carson Gagnon (2022, So.) 81 yards for a Cardinals touchdown. Then the Cardinals used what got them down the field so much in the game, the great passing game by QB Landon Jones (2021, Jr.) connected with WR Hawkin Miller (2022, So.) for a 47 passing touchdown which would put the Cardinals up 22-0 to end the first quarter. The second quarter started by a Milaca touchdown by RB Henry Truebenbach (2020, Sr.) would be their only touchdown of the game, although Truebenbach was a workhorse and ran for over 100 yards rushing on the game. Annadale got another first-half touchdown from Jones as he found tall WR Paul Meyer for a 20-yard touchdown to put the game at 29-7 at the half.
The second half would start and QB Landon Jones would find another receiving target which was lightning speed RB Alan Luna for a 56-yard passing touchdown. Milaca, all game was giving up big chunks of yards on big plays which did not help their chances against the Cardinals. It would be 35-7 Annandale to close out the 3rd quarter.
To close out the game, Annandale got another 1-yard punch in from FB Lucas Backel (2020, Sr.) to close out the scoring attack and win the game over the Milaca Wolves 42-7.
Annandale (8-1) will play at St. Cloud State against 2 seed Mora at 5:30 PM on Friday, October 1st. Milaca (4-5) will end their season on the losing end. They will lose their top running back in Henry Truebenbach, who was a 1000 yard rusher this year and top wide receiver Colton Molacek who was the best receiver for QB Braden Hardy (2021, Jr.) this year for the Wolves.
