Get to Know Brayden Weber
Weber has been the force of this Bulldogs defense since his freshman year as he has started for Becker since then. As a 3rd year starter, he has started over 30 games for the Bulldogs since his freshman year, which is why he owns this Bulldogs defense as far as his longevity and tenure. When asked about his strengths, Weber commented on three things. “I run a 4.8, 40-yard dash, my bench press is 315 and my leadership on this team is second to none,” Weber said when going over his strengths with NFN. At 6’2, 215 pounds, Weber can “push some dudes around” he told Nate in his final quote of strengths. Northstar Football News was able to catch Weber and the Bulldogs in Week 1 in their win at home over Monticello.
Best Parts About Outside Linebacker for Weber
The best part about the outside linebacker position Weber says was “the ability to pass rush but also drop back in coverage” which I think is an excellent way to look at the outside linebacker position.
College Interest
Weber is entertaining some D-1 interest at this time. He’s received game-day invites from Minnesota, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, and Western Illinois. He said also very recently, the Iowa Hawkeyes have expressed interest here late.
Improvements from the Off-Season by Weber
One of the biggest things the Becker Bulldogs coaching staff said to work on with Brayden, is for him to get better with his hands in pass-rushing situations. With the camps that Weber stated he attended over the summer, this skill has gotten a lot better with the work he’s put in.
Brayden’s Mentors
Brayden credited NFL All-Pro and Denver Bronco Von Miller as his idol at the linebacker position as he stated “I study his pass rush moves and all of his techniques on YouTube” when talking about his idol.
Goals for the Rest of the Season for Weber and the Bulldogs
The goal for the Bulldogs is to “win state” Weber told NFN. “We have the guys to do it this year. He credited his defense on being very “stout” this year and his offense under the leadership of QB Josh Fobbe is clicking on all cylinders. Individually, Brayden said he to just go out there each week, have fun and “hope the offers come in” he said in his final statement to Northstar Football News.
Becker (5-1) is currently ranked 7th in the most recent 4A poll. They will play visitors this Friday as they travel to Willmar (2-4) to take on the Cardinals. They will close their season next Wednesday on the road at Sartell-St. Stephen (0-6) to end the regular season. Thanks again to Brayden Weber for the report!
