Interested in playing college football whether it’s D1, D2, or D3; I felt excited to interview Berry for Northstar Football News after the last game of Berry’s high school career last Saturday versus Spring Lake Park. College coaches and recruiters should check out what the senior has to say about his interest in college football, his career at Irondale, and a little bit about himself.
Berry working a pass rush move.Berry: “I’m from Chicago, Illinois and I started playing football in 8th grade. I played hockey before I played football and I love all sports. I’m 6’3, 240 lbs., and my 40 is 4.9. I just like football because anyone can play and you just learn so much from the game. Last year I learned that JV and Varsity are totally different. You gotta be in the weight room and that’s what I did last year. I had to work on staying low and shedding defenders as well. Playing football at Irondale is great and it’s like family there. Win, lose, or draw we got each others back. The 2019 season wasn’t how I planned but we all tried and we all got better as the season progressed and I told them if y’all want to be good at football they gotta stay focused on getting faster and stronger so expect them to have a good season (next year). I just want to play at the next level whether that’s D1, 2, or 3. I have been contacted by a few schools. South Dakota State was the first school to ever text me and a lot of D2 schools talk to me right now as well.”
