Quixote Herron is a 5’8″, 185 pound RB/OLB for the Minneapolis North Polars. I was able to watch one of his games online against Paynesville, Herron has a high motor and flows to ball on every play. He strongest attributes are that he reads and reacts to the offense really well, he fills the gap quickly and ALWAYS wraps up the ballcarrier. He keeps contain on the outside and plays pretty well in pass coverage. I was able to interview Herron about his Senior season and his plans for after high school. Check it out below!
Herron (49)- Janaye Johnson PhotographyNFN: Hello Quixote, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you started playing football.
Herron: I’m a 17 year old Senior at Minneapolis North High School. I’m the oldest of 4 children, living with my single mother. I started playing football when I was 9 years old. I love to be apart of the game, and I like to use it as an escape from reality.
NFN: What do you love about the game? How was the 2019 season for you personally and your team?
Herron: I love to be apart of the game, and I like to use it as an escape from reality. We went 8-0 in the regular season and we are going to play for the State Championship next week! I feel I had a great season at Outside Linebacker.
NFN: What were your expectations for you and your team for this season?
Herron: Personally, my expectations were to play my heart out and be a leader on the team. My expectations for the team were to do exactly what we are doing, play in the Prep Bowl and hopefully win it!
NFN: What’s it like playing for Minneapolis North?
Herron: This year we have become a solid group and focused more. We just focused more on the task at hand, I believe that’s what put us in this position this year. It feels great to be apart of this team with the bond we have like a family and we all play together and keep each other motivated.
NFN: How has your recruitment been going? What are you looking for in a college program?
Herron: I haven’t been in contact with any coaches yet. I’m interested in a new program with new experiences, environment and join a new family type atmosphere. I would really just be happy to get an experience at the next level!
Herron and the Polars will take on the Caledonia Warriors in the Prep Bowl on November 29th at US Bank Stadium @ 1:00 PM
