Warriors Strike Early and Often in Big Victory over Arrows.
The Pipestone Arrows came out swinging against the Caledonia Warriors, striking first on a 25-yard connection from JT Tinklenberg to Dawson Schelhaas. The Arrow defense then had the Warriors in a third and long situation on the ensuing drive. Noah King scrambled for a first down on a long run, after that, it was all Caledonia. King would hit Cole Kronebusch for a 25-yard score, then Donnie Lakey from 51 yards out. He would then hit Elijah King for a 58 yard score, Noah King would then take it himself for a 18 yard score. King hit both Kronebusch (67 yd.) and Elijah King (20 yd.) to round out the half, scoring 49 unanswered points. The second half opened up with Jed Kasten scoring on a 2 yard dive, which was the end of the Warrior scoring for the night. Pipestone was able to get one score back late with Tinklenberg hitting Tyson Wacker for a 61 yard score to end the scoring for both teams, final score 56-14.
Caledonia:
“I thought we came out intense and ready to play,” Head Coach Carl Fruechte said after the win, “Pipestone has been one of those good football programs, finding ways to make the State Tournament a few times in recent years. They had a good season, but I’m glad ours gets to continue.”
Players Highlighted:
Quarterback/Defensive Back- Noah King was very good throwing the ball and keeping the play alive for his receivers to get open, he did not miss them when they did.
Wide Receiver- Cole Kronebusch made many short catches, then turned them into bigger plays with his speed.
Wide Receiver/Defensive Back- Donnie Lakey also made big plays out of small plays, but also played really good defense as well.
Running Back/Linebacker- Dalen Lemke ran the ball hard and was involved in a lot of tackles defensively.
Wide Receiver/Defensive Back- Elijah King was another good target who also had lots of speed.
Offensive Line- Ezra Dvorak, Ethan Jacobsen, Elias Dvorak, Skye Welch, & Casey Schultz all blocked well for the pass game and the run game.
Pipestone:
“Definitely proud of each and every one of our guys tonight,” Head Coach Clay Anderson said after the game, “we came out strong against a very good football team and played hard the whole game no matter the score. Great season.”
Players Highlighted:
Running Back/Defensive Lineman- Jason Steenstra kept running hard the whole game, taking some big shots from defenders but kept fighting.
Running Back/Linebacker- Eric Lange also ran well the whole night, really ran hard through defenders. Defensively was still able to make many tackles again.
Wide Receiver/Defensive Back- Dawson Schelhaas had a good night catching deep passes again.
Linebacker- Lucas Winter played an excellent game defensively, making a lot of open field tackles.
Defensive Back- Maddox Biever was able to run down some big plays and make the stop.
Offensive Line- Chris Sutherland, Hunter McKinney, Bradley Willey, Brandon Fey, & Mason Krakow they played well holding their own against a much bigger line.
