Billy Errington is a giant tight end standing at 6’6″ and 210 lbs. He just wrapped up his Senior Season as a Laker with a 3-6 record in Cottonwood and signed his Letter of Intent to play football for the Golden Bears at Concordia- St. Paul. Errington’s long and lanky figure is very deceiving, he has a lot of muscle in his long frame. He also possesses a great deal of speed and is an excellent blocker in the run game. He runs good routes and finds a way to get open, which isn’t very hard for him since he towered over most of his defenders. He is the only TE that I have ever seen as a long-pull blocker in the run game, which he did exceptionally well in. Errington capped his season with 40 catches, 536 yards and three touchdowns. He was also a letter winner in basketball and Track & Field for the Lakers. I was able to catch up with him and ask him about his decision process in his final commitment. Check it out below!
Errington- Karen BergNFN: Hello Billy, could you walk us through your recruiting experience?
Errington: My recruiting didn’t start until the end of my Junior year. I first received help from Midwest Collegiate Scouting to expand my publicity. I also went to a few camps over that summer to really get my name out there for college coaches. I did not have an offer going into my Senior Season, but I still worked had and kept my dream alive of playing at the next level. I went on game day visits every Saturday during football season.
NFN: What made you choose Concordia- St. Paul?
Errington: I chose Concordia- St.Paul for three reasons. First, I loved the location and all the opportunities that will come with living in the big city. Second, the football program is very promising with the hard working, dedicated coaches, as well as the nice facilities. Lastly, Head Coach Currier made it clear what he does at CSP. He promised to shape me in the best way possible as both a football player, and a person. He emphasized about caring more about what his players become after their college careers, where the others schools just talk about what their players do in the time they spend at the school.
NFN: What will you miss most about High School, both football and school?
Errington: Of course I will miss my teammates, classmates, teachers and coaches, but I am also excited to start a new chapter in my life.
NFN:Is there any other details you would like to share about the recruiting process for other athletes looking to play college football?
Errington: My advice for other athletes looking to play college football is to start their recruiting process earlier. I missed out on a lot of camps between my Sophomore and Junior seasons because I moved and, in turn, fell behind in getting recruited.
NFN: What do you plan on majoring in at CSP?
Errington: I plan on majoring in business and getting into marketing and sales.
