Jackson Klocow is a 5’9″, 145 pound speedster at WR for the Lakeview Lakers. He was the primary deep threat in the Laker passing game. Most of his plays on film he seemed to sneak past the defensive backfield to find himself wide open behind the defenders. While the defense were busting their hump trying to catch him from behind, he just seemed to trot into the end zone. With that kind of speed, Klocow also tears up the track in the spring, however he missed his sophomore year due to injury. He is hoping to have a Junior season to post some impressive times in the 100-meter dash. He was also on the Laker basketball team this past season. I was able to catch up with him and ask him about a potential college football career, check out his answers below!
Klocow- Karen BergNFN: Hello Jackson, tell us a little about yourself and how you began playing football.
Klocow: I’ve been playing football since 5th grade, but after 7th grade I stopped playing because of many injuries I sustained during the season. This past year my friends convinced me to go out again because they believed my speed could help the team, so I gave it a try!
NFN: What do you love about the game? How was your season for you and your team?
Klocow: I love the family bond you get when you’re under those Friday night lights. This past season went well, we definitely wanted more but we battled every game and just came up short in a couple games. I played better than I thought I would, having not played in four years.
NFN: What are your expectations for next season? What’s it like being a Laker?
Klocow: For right now my expectations were to use football to help me get stronger for track, and vice versa. My goal for this year in track is to make a push to get to the State meet. For football, my goal is to step up and help the team in any way I can.
NFN: How has your recruiting been? What are you looking for in a college program? Would you be open to dual-sporting in college?
Klocow: I have had coaches contact me for both football and track, nothing too serious yet. I’m looking for a family feel and a team-hunger to win. I would be open to dual sporting, I have always been wanting to run track in college, but if the opportunity came to play football I would do that too!
