Continue ReadingI’ve been making a deliberate effort to not try and discuss the COVID-19 pandemic and its affect on the college recruiting landscape for the MN preps I am blessed to cover, but with campus visits and even face-to-face meetings delayed it’s time to dive headfirst into promoting the c/o 2020 unsigned athletes from each and every position group on the gridiron. These ’20 athletes are the most impacted, so any kind of exposure these articles can provide will hopefully be helpful and important. Northstar Football News will continue these features with the fifth installment of the series where we will stay on the offensive side of the ball and focus on the game-changing and always important wide receivers and tight ends. Minnesota has produced some big-time receivers & tight ends over the past decade, with D1 stars Brandon Lingen, Jesper Horsted, Ben Ellefson, JD Spielman, Ramaud Chiaokhiao-Bowman, Phoenix Sproles Phoenix Sproles DB Robbinsdale Cooper | 2018 State MN , and Brevyn Spann-Ford Brevyn Spann-Ford TE St. Cloud Tech | 2018 State MN all having graced MN gridirons as a WR or TE and showing on the big stage that the Land of 10,000 Lakes grinds out some ballers at the position. Whether you need an outside wideout, a speedy slot guy, or a bruiser of a TE, there are some standout MN All-Stars, All-District performers, and more still available in this 2020 class. Take a look at some still available playmakers, and enjoy the review of their careers and accomplishments. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy!
Kale Hoselton (St. Michael-Albertville) 6’3, 200 lbs. WR @Khoss_13 Holds basketball offers from Lake Region State (D1 Juco) and University of Jamestown. He does appear to be basketball focused, but to be honest I think his football ceiling goes way higher as he’s got great size, great hands, excels at high pointing the football, and runs good routes. He also played FS for the Knights, and with STMA’s record of success with their alumni at the college level Hoselton is as sure of a bet as any at being a game-changing college football player. Senior Year
Donnie Lakey (Caledonia) 5’11, 180 lbs. WR @DonnieLakey15 MN All-Star Game participant, All-District. 4x State Champion. Fast-twitch receiver who runs great routes and is explosive after the catch. Also a physical blocker, and has some game-changing speed as well. No reported offers, UWRF coaches follow him. vs. St. Charles vs. Lourdes HS vs. Red Wing vs. MPLS North vs. Pipestone
Andrew Anderson (Rocori) 6’4, 190 lbs. @Andrew__2_ WR/TE. MN All-Star Game participant, All-District, 2019 4A state champion. Tall wideout who’s deceptively fast, has great hands and a great catch radius, and had a big game in the 2019 state championship game against SMB with a ton of contested catches. No reported offers, but has DIII and DII followers on Twitter. Hit him up! Senior Year
Carter Anderson (Centennial) 6’4, 215 lbs. @cartera345 WR/TE. MN All-Star Game participant, All-District. Visited UND. Also a successful basketball player for the Cougars. Big, athletic, and physical wideout who routinely drove would-be defenders downfield. Smooth runner who moves great for his size, and would be an excellent late addition to a college football locker room at any level. No reported offers, but has followers from all divisions of CFB. Senior Season
Jon Sikel Jon Sikel DB Mankato West | 2020 State MN (Mankato-West) 5’10, 170 lbs. @jonnysikel WR. Holds offers from Bemidji State, Augustana University. 2017 All-District, All-City. 3x All-State Track recipient. Super explosive wideout whose track skills translate to the gridiron, and shows some natural shake and ability to create separation. Wish he had senior highlights.. Junior Season Offense Junior Season Defense

Lonnie Wilson (NRHEG) 5’10, 160 lbs. @Lonniefootball WR. 3x All-District. First play of his Hudl is nuts! Shows a unique athleticism in one play alone. Fearless receiver with no issue going over the middle to make a catch, and has some serious speed with some shiftiness and impressive YAC ability. Also a special teams weapon. Strong for his size, and looks like the best athlete on the field on his film. These small town MN kids can ball, man! No reported offers. Senior Year
Troy Feddema (St. Cloud Tech) 5’10, 175 lbs. @feddema_6 WR. 2018 All-Area HM. Another explosive wideout with the ball in his hands, Feddema’s first two plays are impressive kick returns for TDs and as a WR he’s a fast and shifty with the ability to take the ball to the house on any given play. Good vision, great agility, and some RB experience helps the senior as a recruit as well. No reported offers. Senior SZN
Armon Walker (Robbinsdale Armstrong) 6’3, 230 lbs. TE @walker_armon Offered by Augsburg University. Has H-back potential as he shows good hands, route-running ability, and more than a willingness to block, #17 for the Falcons is an under-recruited senior who is strong, physical, and has a ton of experience with the Falcons who turned around a program and got some big wins in 2019. Hit him up! Senior Season

Tommy Oyaro (Champlin Park) 5’10, 160 lbs. WR. @Tommyc_21 3.3 GPA. Watching his film the first things that impress me is his speed, ball-tracking abilities, and his athleticism in the return game. Impressive after the catch as well. No reported offers. Career Highlights
Collin Hoyhtya (Mounds View) 6’3, 190 lbs. WR. @CollinHoyhtya 4.05 GPA, 34 ACT. Recorded 47 catches for 649 yards and 3 TDs in 2019. Got to see him live this past fall against Lakeville South, and he’s a big kid who is long and athletic and made some tough catches for the state quarterfinalist Mounds View Mustangs. Tough wideout with no worries about going over the middle for tough catches, and has a great frame to put on weight at the next level. With great grades I’m surprised an Ivy hasn’t come calling, but hit up the senior before it’s too late! Senior Season Highlights
Dylan Rash (Benilde-St. Margaret’s) 5’10, 160 lbs. WR. @Dylan_rash15 I got to see the Orono transfer live against SMB in a 4A section final matchup this past fall, and he made some big plays against a great secondary that kept BSM in the game until the very end. Runs a great “out-and-up” route that found him a lot of success in 2019, Rash was more than effective out of the slot for the Red Knights and has some great hands with no problem making a necessary big play for his offense. No reported offers. Senior SZN Highlights
Ja’Corrien Barnes (Hopkins) 6’0, 200 lbs. TE @jaco_barnes2020 Two-way player for Hopkins with good strength and a great skill-set as a TE. Visited Morningside College. vs. Apple Valley vs. Armstrong vs. Forest Lake vs. Chanhassen vs. Lakeville North
