Carter is one of the top recruits in the west region and has already cemented himself as one of the best quarterbacks in prestigious Tigard HS football history alongside names like Joe Wiser, Scott Bonnono, Jett Even and Matt Cincotta. Carter will be a 4 year starter with close to 40+ wins when his career is said and done. Carter brings rare physical tools to go with elite leadership and accuracy. He is comfortable under center or in the gun while constantly threatening the defense with his legs. One of the best overall athletes in the state of Oregon, Carter was named Three Rivers League Player of the Year in basketball his junior season by averaging 24.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Carter comes from an impressive bloodline of Tigers with his older sister, Lexi Carter, having played basketball for the Clemson Tigers.
Carters film is extremely impressive. Tigard is now running a more “wide open” attack utilizing 3-4 flexed out WR’s at any given time to take advantage of their QB’s strengths. He spreads the ball around while moving the pocket with great athleticism. At 6-3, 195 Carter is also a load to bring down when he decides to tuck it and run. Defenders seem to shy away from taking him on directly, thus allowing Carter to finish runs with a purpose. We actually see a lot of similarities between Carter and the NFL 2018-19 MVP and Super Bowl winner, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes.
As a freshman Carter led the Tigers to the semi-finals while also averaging over 12 points a game as a varsity contributor in basketball. As this summers recruiting moves along, we predict that Carter will pull down a few more Pac-12 offers when it’s said and done. Good luck to Carter and the 2020 Tigard Tigers.
