Positional versatility.
Whether he ends up a hard-charging ball carrier or a hard-hitting defensive back, Schield is most certainly willing to play wherever he can fit in if it gets him to the next level.
“I’m wide open right now,” Schield said. “I’m just looking for some place I can make a difference for the team. I think I can play lot of positions. I’m bigger for a running back and I’m pretty strong for a defensive back. I’m really just looking to have a good senior season and to go somewhere I can play.”
Last season, Schield racked up the third most rushing yards in Rock Canyon’s ground attack rushing yards and led the team in receptions. He also played cornerback and moved inside whenever the Jaguars needed him to help shore up the middle of the field. He has focused much of the past offseason, much of which has been spent in quarantine, on getting stronger in order to better prepare his body to help the Jaguars improve on last fall’s 1-9 record as well as for the next level.
“We haven’t been able to practice yet but a lot of our guys are determined and we’re hoping to pull everything together this season,” Schield said. “We’ve been working out a lot and we have a bunch of juniors and seniors this year, so we’re looking forward to the season.”
A dangerous player in space with good speed and a nose for contact, Schield said he has been in contact with several schools including Drake University and the University of San Diego. He trains with Six Zero Strength + Fitness and plays 7-on-7 with Team Full Gorilla, and Schield could end up being one of the top potential diamonds in the rough out of Colorado’s 2021 Class when it’s all said and done.
Schield, who posted a 4.0 GPA for this past school term, is currently No. 73 in his class in the Prep Redzone Colorado player rankings.
