With that said, we are going to take a look at the top skill position players from as many districts as possible in the state before fall camps begin.
Some of these players are already receiving college interest, while others are looking to catch the eye of that right coach.
Kalen Meyer – Central Lyon/George-Little Rock
It will be Kalen Meyer’s turn to lead the Central Lyon/George-Little Rock offense this coming fall.
As a junior, Meyer recorded 279 yards and two scores on the ground with another 130 on eight receptions in the air. The team, though, graduated 1,100-yard rusher Kole Telford and quarterback Colby Postma, putting more of the focus on Meyer.
On defense, the Class of 2021 prospect made 65.5 tackles including six for loss with 59 of those being solo stops.
Colton Korver – MOC-Floyd Valley
It was a bit of a learning experience on the job for MOC-Floyd Valley’s Colton Korver last year.
Korver took the majority of the snaps under center for the Dutchmen, completing 71 of 153 for 703 yards. He had a quarterback rating of 85, averaging just under 10 yards per completion with 123 yards and three scores on the ground.
MOC-Floyd Valley ended the year strong in 2019, defeating Okoboji in the final week for its lone victory.
Kaleb Ackerman – Sheldon
Sheldon’s Class of 2021 quarterback Kaleb Ackerman put together a very successful campaign.
Ackerman completed 120 of 219 passes for the Orabs, totaling 1,386 yards with 13 touchdowns. He put together a 108 quarterback rating and averaged almost 12 yards per completion.
He was also capable with his feet, racking up another 373 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
Tyrel Lindemann Tyrel Lindemann 5'10" | 155 lbs | ATH Sheldon | 2021 IA – Sheldon
Big things will be expected out of the Sheldon offense this fall thanks to the return of quarterback Kaleb Ackerman and his leading target, Tyrel Lindemann Tyrel Lindemann 5'10" | 155 lbs | ATH Sheldon | 2021 IA .
Lindemann finished his junior season as the team leader with 41 receptions for 493 yards and six touchdowns. He averaged 12 yards per catch and partners with classmate Brendan Cain to form a dynamic duo.
On defense, Lindemann had 20 tackles and picked off a pass, averaging 27 yards with an 86-yard TD return on kickoffs and 10 yards per punt return.
Eli Hibma – Sioux Center
Sioux Center might be breaking in a new quarterback this fall, but that person will have a reliable, experienced target to focus on in Eli Hibma.
Last year, Hibma led the team with 28 receptions for 335 yards and four touchdowns. He averaged 12 yards per catch while also recording 38.5 tackles on defense with four forced turnovers.
Logan Franken – Unity Christian
As part of a rushing attack that racked up almost 1,500 yards last year, Logan Franken looks primed for a breakout senior campaign.
Franken led the Knights with 709 yards, averaging 5.5 per attempt. He also scored three touchdowns, including an 83-yard jaunt during the season.
To go along with his rushing totals, Franken also hauled in three passes for 54 yards including a score. On defense he had 43 tackles with eight stops for loss, 2.5 sacks and a fumble recovery.
