Continue ReadingPlaying in one of the most competitive regions in the state last year (two teams played each other for the state championship while another boasted the state’s leading rusher) Creekview still managed to finish 6-4. In the program’s 14-year history, the Grizzlies have failed to finish above .500 only three times and have regularly produced Division 1 talent.
Creekview will be without last year’s playmaker Ethan Dirrim (Mercer) but brings back a number of talented players at key positions. A few have received their initial college offers and big seasons could see the expansion of their college opportunities.
Brody Rhodes – QB/Dual – Class of 2021
Rhodes has taken snaps behind center for the Grizzlies since his sophomore season and was the best dual-threat signal-caller in Cherokee County a year ago. He accounted for more than 2,000 total yards (1,600 passing and 432 rushing yards) and was rewarded by an offer from The Citadel this past spring. Kennesaw State came calling with an offer this week which leads me to believe Rhodes’ recruitment could heat up dramatically over the next few months. He was second-team All-Region and All-County in 2019 and I’d expect him to make a strong run at first-team honors in both this season.
Rhodes averaged better than five yards a carry last year and over 14 yards per completion. Measuring 6’1” and 190 pounds, Rhodes is deceptively fast once in the open field and has shown the ability to make defenders miss as well. Clearly confident in his decision making, Rhodes has also shown the ability to find receivers downfield despite an oncoming pass rush. With several weapons returning on the outside, look for Rhodes to be a name you hear often this fall in 6A football.
Brody Rhodes runs it in from 10 yards out to give Creekview the lead late in the fourth.

Isaac Hubert – DE/OLB – Class of 2023
One of the breakout freshmen in the state of Georgia last year, Hubert burst on the scene and made it hard for the coaches to take him off the field. Hubert led Cherokee County with 9.5 sacks while also recording 23 solo tackles, nine assisted tackles and 11 tackles for loss. Playing a hybrid “Bear” position on the edge, Hubert displayed a natural ability to rush the passer and chase down opposing ball carriers. For his efforts, he was named a Freshman All-American by MaxPreps.
Still very raw, Hubert has the potential to become an elite-level recruit. He’s already received his first scholarship offer (Jacksonville State University) and should be a key piece for the Grizzlies this season.
Andrew Cloy – WR – Class of 2021
Cloy should serve as one of Rhodes’ primary weapons this fall. At 6’2” and 190 pounds Cloy is long and explosive down the field. He possesses the leaping ability to out-jump defenders and his run-after-the-catch ability has been impressive as well. An excellent athlete, Cloy finished last season with 27 receptions for 395 yards (14.6 average) for three touchdowns. I’d very much expect those numbers to increase (perhaps double) given Cloy will likely be the primary target in 2020. Cloy received an offer from Olivet Nazarene University this past spring.
Grant Anderson – LB – Class of 2021
An anchor in the middle last season for Creekview, Anderson should once again prove to be one of the better linebacker prospects in Cherokee County. Finished 2019 as the team’s leading tackler (40 solo, 26 assists) while adding five sacks. A two-sport athlete (baseball catcher) Anderson has the sideline-to-sideline ability you like to see and the strength to punish ball carriers once he arrives. Should continue to rack up the tackles this fall with talent both in front and behind him.
Cale Williams – S – Class of 2022
One of the best athletes on Creekview’s roster, Williams started all 10 games at free safety last fall and previewed his talents moving forward. At 6 feet and close to 200 pounds there’s a lot to like with Williams. Displayed playmaking ability in pass coverage in 2019 but his pursuit and closing speed may be his best attribute. I expect him to become even better in this area with another year of development and could become one of the better safeties in north Georgia by the end of the fall. Excellent tackler who seems to be only scratching the surface of his ability.
