Five 2022 Recruits Most Likely to Receive Their First FBS Offer
The 2022 list of recruits coming out of Wisconsin can be described using a handful of words. Stacked. Loaded. Deep. Talented. We have already seen seven players from the class receive offers from FBS level schools, including WR Jerry Cross Jerry Cross 6'6" | 240 lbs | TE Rufus King | 2022 State WI committing to Penn State and DB Braelon Allen Braelon Allen 6'2" | 230 lbs | DB Fond du Lac | 2021 State WI committing to Wisconsin over the past couple of weeks. However, those seven players with current FBS offers could just be the beginning. In this article we will look at five more athletes from the 2022 class who have a great chance of receiving their first FBS offer. For each prospect we will take a look at the traits they have to offer teams at the next level and then look at the current interest they are receiving from FBS schools.
Myles Burkett Myles Burkett 6'1" | 200 lbs | QB Franklin | 2022 State WI – Franklin, Quarterback
Based off my film study, Burkett is the best QB in the state no matter the class. He is a dual threat, but he doesn’t rely on his legs like you see from a lot of dual threat high school QBs. He treats them like a bonus not his go to. Myles would much rather sit in the pocket and deliver accurate passes or buy time with his legs before just taking off after his first read isn’t open. It is impressive to see that type of development already as an incoming junior. As a passer, Burkett can do it all. He is accurate to all levels of the field and is just as accurate while on the run. He has the arm to reach anywhere on the field, while also having the zip on the ball to fit it into closing windows on deeper throws. His footwork is also very sharp and clean. He is going to put on a show the next two seasons and I for one can’t wait to watch.
Burkett is the biggest surprise on this list in my opinion. He has the clear cut talent for the FBS level, but so far the offers have eluded him. I don’t see that lasting much longer once he returns to the field in 2020. Just because he doesn’t have an FBS offer doesn’t mean the interest is there. So far I have found reported interest for him from Wisconsin, Iowa, and Iowa State among others. He has a great chance of securing some FBS offers.
Chad Schuster Chad Schuster 6'6" | 280 lbs | OL Franklin | 2022 State WI – Franklin, Offensive Line
Franklin is going to be a team to be reckoned with these next few seasons as they have their second athlete appearing on this list. Schuster has all the physical traits you look for in young offensive line prospects. He already has great size at 6’5″ 265 lbs and looks like he can handle plenty more size on his frame. Schuster isn’t just a big body either. He is an easy mover with big legs, yet skinny ankles further demonstrating his athleticism. In pass protection, Schuster maintains great technique throughout each rep, sets a strong anchor making it nearly impossible to bull rush him, and he kick slides and mirrors pass rushers pretty easily. In the run game, Chad has shown that he can really get out and move. He can run his defender laterally to open up lanes in zone schemes and he has also shown that he can dominate double teams and then fall off and get to the second level and block LBs.
Schuster has gathered a good amount of interest from FBS programs. Especially from Big Ten teams. So far, I have found reported interest for Chad from Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern, and Purdue. He is going to be fun to watch develop and grow over the next two seasons. He should become a hot commodity.
Nathan Skebba Nathan Skebba 6'5" | 270 lbs | OL Grafton | 2022 State WI – Grafton, Offensive Line
Nathan has been tasked with holding down the right side while 2021 stud, JP Benzschawel JP Benzschawel 6'7" | 260 lbs | OL Grafton | 2021 State WI , holds down the left side of the offensive line. Based off the film, I believe that Skebba would fit best on the right side. He is more of a power run/ mauler than a zone blocker that looks to get his hands on defenders quickly and then bury them. In the run game he relies on his power and finishing ability. Once he gets on his man it is over for him. His double teams completely remove defenders and reset the line of scrimmage downfield. In the pass game, Nathan uses his 6’5″ 265 lbs frame and length well to get his hands on the rusher and control them. He also plays with good awareness in his pass protection as he has shown the ability to pick up on twists and blitzers.
Skebba is another player that should have the interest of the home state team in Wisconsin as well as receiving interest from Northern Illinois. Skebba is another player, similar to the others on this list, who has a key uncoachable trait. Impressive size. Pair that with years to further develop and you get a player you need to keep an eye on.
Andrew Keller Andrew Keller 6'6" | 215 lbs | TE Waunakee | 2022 State WI – Waunakee, Wide Receiver
It will be interesting to see what position Keller ends up at. He is already roughly 6’6″ 200 lbs as an incoming junior. With the potential to continue to grow he could be a huge redzone and jump ball threat at the receiver position or transition to TE. The first trait that jumps off the film, besides his huge frame that could continue to grow, is his catch radius. Even if he is covered, Andrew is always open two feet over his head. The QB can just chuck it up and trust he will come down with it. Part of that being do to his strong, yet soft hands. He is a natural hands catcher who uses his long arms to help keep the ball out of reach of defenders as well as being great at boxing out defenders. Keller’s potential at this point is through the roof. Not just in football alone because he is also a very nice basketball recruit.
Keller’s development could impact his recruitment. Some teams might want him at tight end and others might want him at receiver. Either way I wouldn’t be surprised to see him land an FBS offer. I have seen reported interest from Wisconsin and that could be just the beginning for Andrew.
Evan Malcore Evan Malcore 6'6" | 270 lbs | OL Sun Prairie | 2022 State WI – Sun Prairie, Offensive Line
Evan is an absolute UNIT! He is 6’7″ and 250+ lbs with room to fill out to make himself one of the best looking offensive line prospects in the state eventually. The most impressive part of his film is that even though he is 6’7″ he doesn’t play too high. He shows the ability to consistently get low and drive defenders while maintaining excellent technique. In the run game, Malcore is a people mover. He can drive defenders off the ball or crash them down and whip out almost the entire defensive line. It is fun to watch. He is also a great athlete. Evan can pull and has demonstrated the ability to get out and lead screens and he looks natural in space. Very smooth mover. While maintaining that athleticism and technique, Evan is also a nasty finisher. He will put his defender into the ground every chance he can. In the pass game, Malcore uses his long arms to make himself almost impossible to get around. He can get his hands on the defender long before they can touch him. His athleticism further boosts his pass blocking as he easily slides and changes directions to mirror edge rushers. He has the traits to really take a huge leap this season and next.
This is why I could easily see him land an FBS offer at some point. He has the traits you can’t coach as well as being obviously coachable thanks to his sound technique. Currently, Malcore has reported interest and invites from Miami- OH, Wisconsin, and Iowa. I believe that that could just be the beginning for a stud in the making!
