Continue ReadingWe continue our Hidden Gems series here at Prep Redzone and we are entering one of the most historic areas as far as football goes, Stark County. There is plenty of D1 FBS and FCS talent in this area. Some with FBS and FCS offers some without. This list will contain players with the talent and not the offers. Here is the top hidden gems in stark county coming up this season.
6. Starting off the list we have Braidyn Hartsoe out of Alliance High School. Braidyn (c/o 2021) is a 6’0 185lb ATH that plays FS and QB. Braidyn is super talented and flashes when you watch him on the field. He is super impressive on the defensive end making big tackles and causing turnovers and on offense he has the arm to make the throws and the legs to evade defenders. I expect Braidyn to have a huge senior campaign, possibly seeing time at wideout on the offensive side and limited time at QB with someone who has D1 offers ahead of him taking the bulk of the snaps. Alliance opens the season at home vs Uniontown Lake on August 28th with a 7pm kickoff. Check out some of Braidyn’s highlights from last season https://www.hudl.com/video/3/9793041/5dd809fa0c5e620da8913f1a
5. Coming in at five we have K/P Magnus Haines (c/o 2021) 5’11 180lbs from Massillon Washington. On a team full of talent, Magnus still holds one of the most important positions on the field while being overshadowed by his ultra talented D1 FBS caliber teammates. Magnus shows versatility in his punts being able to perform corner kicks, high hanging kicks and long kicks giving him a number of touchbacks. He is the foundation of the special teams and the unsung hero most Friday nights. I expect him to have another big year and gain offers of his own. Massillon is slated to open the season vs Las Vegas state power Bishop Gorman at home on August 28th with kick off being at 7pm. Things are subject to change and Massillon could open the season with Lakewood St Edwards instead. 4. 6’1 250lb Center Alec Lehman (c/o 2022) from North Canton Hoover is as impressive as it gets as an offensive linemen. He paved all sorts of lanes for his QB and RBs all season exploding off of the line with a low fire out and great technique. He has a quick snap and gets to the second level even quicker giving any linebacker he’s assigned to get, fits. He still has some developing with him only being a sophomore last season. He will be scary good these next couple of seasons and the offers should come rolling in this season. The big fella will be responsible for many TDs to come. Hoover will open the season at home vs Cleveland Hts August 28th with a 7pm kick off. Want to see some impressive offensive line play? 3. Sticking to the trenches we have defensive end Trent Chavers (c/o 2021) of Canton South High School. Trent stands at 6’3 220lbs and he reeks complete havoc off of the edge. Speed, power and technique he is mostly over looked because he plays at a small division school but he boasts a 4.6 40 yard dash. 455lb dead lift and 405lb squat max. His numbers and film screams explosive and his senior year will be another monster season after earning all-conference honors as a junior. Canton South will open the season at home vs Kent Rosevelt on August 28th with a 7pm kickoff. In the meantime watch his monstrous highlights from last season https://www.hudl.com/profile/9592960/Trent-Chavers/videos
2. Hunter Geissinger Hunter Geissinger 6'4" | 180 lbs | QB Massilon Jackson | 2022 OH from Massillon Jackson is a 6’5 180lb QB two sport athlete who will only be a junior this year coming up. As a sophomore he put up impressive numbers throwing for over 1,500 yards and 14TDs while rushing for another 261 yards and 3TDs. Running a 4.8 40 yard dash with a 4.5 shuttle, he will not be a hidden gem for long. His size alone will attract possible suiters for the next level. Before his career is finished he will put up some more gaudy numbers as a junior and senior. Jackson will open the season vs Akron East at home on August 28th with a 7pm kick off. Watch Hunter sling the rock around as a sophomore https://www.hudl.com/profile/11572138/Hunter-Geissinger/videos
- At the top spot we have 5’11 180lb ATH Robert Young-Jones (c/o 2021) who transferred from Akron Buchtel over to Canton McKinley for his senior campaign. Robert is a legitimate D1 FBS talent with no offers. I will tell you why, Robert missed almost all of his junior year tearing his MCL and ACL early on in the season. As a sophomore Robert helped lead Akron Buchtel to a playoff appearance leading the team in rushing with over 1,000 rushing yards and 8 TDs making 1st team all-conference honors and 2nd team all-district honors. Robert is poised to have a big time comeback season. As you will see in his film, he is explosive on the field. He will transition well into a defensive back on the college level. Any program that is willing to roll the dice on this young man will not regret it! Canton McKinley will open the season @ Warren Harding on August 28th with a 7pm kick off.
