*Please note that the Conference Player of the Year favorites list has nothing to do with where they project collegiately. This is strictly how I think they will fare next season within their conference. It is a general order from top to bottom based on who I think is “most likely” to earn conference POY honors.
Brian MannionBrianMannion
6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Mountainside | 2022StateOR
Jr. QB Mountainside – Taking over at QB for the last five games of the season Mannion showed why he is the top quarterback in the state for the 2022 class. The game winning throw in OT to beat #1 Tigard was just a glimpse of how special he could be.
Aaron JonesAaronJones
5'10" | 175 lbs | ATH Westview | 2022StateOR
Jr. RB Westview– In my opinion, Jones has the potential of being the state’s offensive POY. He is that good. His ability to go the house any time he touches the ball in space makes him a minimum 20+ touch guy every game.
Andrew SimpsonAndrewSimpson
6'1" | 165 lbs | DB Mountainside | 2021StateOR
Sr. CB/ATH Mountainside– My #1 ranked CB in the state. Simpson played one of the best HS games I’ve ever seen any individual athlete play, helping to beat #1 Tigard in the playoffs. Look for him to have a monster year on offense with Mannion distributing the rock.
Trent WalkerTrentWalker
6'3" | 190 lbs | WR Beaverton | 2021StateOR
Sr. ATH Beaverton – T Walker is a D1 athlete and one of the top recruits in the state. That said as he may have to play QB with such a talented senior group graduating. His 2,360 all-purpose yards and 23 TDs over the last two seasons, will be tough to replicate, if playing a different position.
EJ BroussardEJBroussard
5'11" | 205 lbs | LB Mountainside | 2021StateOR
Sr. RB/LB Mountainside– What will be a 4 year varsity starter. One of the top two-way athletes in the entire region. His ability to carry the ball 20+ times a game and lead the conference in tackles speaks to his overall versatility.
Connor StevensConnorStevens
6'3" | 205 lbs | LB Sunset | 2021StateOR
Sr. LB Sunset – Stevens returns after a monster Junior season as one of the only underclassmen to earn 1st team all- league honors. At 6-3 215, with a 4.1 GPA, he has the size and smarts to play at the D1 level. Look for Sunset’s D to be legit.
Darrius ClemonsDarriusClemons
6'3" | 195 lbs | WR Westview | 2022StateOR
Jr. WR Westview– One of the nation’s top recruits for the 2022 class. The 4* athlete has offers from the likes of Michigan, Oregon and Notre Dame. That said as the Cats are 4-14 the last two seasons, so we will see if he can help them in the win column.
Tanner VolkTannerVolk
6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Aloha | 2021StateOR
Sr. Aloha– Volk went off as a Junior catching 46 passes for 1,060 yards and 10 TDs. Much like Walker he can play at the D1 level, but the Warriors graduate a deep class, and lose conference POY Timmy Dennis at QB. This could have a big effect on his #s.
Justin HughesJustinHughes
5'9" | 160 lbs | DB Mountainside | 2021StateOR
Sr. SS Mountainside – Huge fan of this kid. Plays with no fear. Rare breed of athlete as he can play QB or be the best defensive player on the field any Friday night. Even at 5-8 he will make some collegiate roster much better.
Tom McMillan Sr. LB Sunset– The Apollos D will be one of the best in the state and McMillan has the size (6-3 210) and speed to blow up after an all-conference Junior season.
