With Irvington’s Mikai Gbayor Mikai Gbayor 6'2" | LB Irvington | 2021 State NJ , versatility comes in bunches. A top-ten recruit in the Class of 2021, Gbayor has all the tools to be an elite inside linebacker wherever he decides to play college ball.
Gbayor is an exceptional tackler with great downhill speed and an impressive ability to stop on a dime. At 6’2 220 lbs, the 9th ranked player in New Jersey has plus speed as well as excellent footwork and agility. With a quick first step and great hands, Gbayor will be essential whenever he drops back in coverage. As he continues to mix his abilities as a pass rusher as well as in coverage, his play is reminiscent of Darius Leonard of the Colts. He’s always going to be more than just a guy who will consistently give you plenty of tackles and sacks, but also a huge threat for a clutch interception too.
Gbayor has official offers from the likes of Michigan State, Ole Miss, LSU, Nebraska, and Kentucky. Odds are he will be playing college football in either the Big Ten or SEC, and with an outstanding combination of size, speed, and hands, he looks to thrive regardless of the conference he lands in.
