85. Jared Gibble Jared Gibble 6'4" | 225 lbs | TE Oak Grove | 2021 NC , 6’4 225, Oak Grove, TE
Gibble has the body of a tight end and the athleticism of a receiver — in other words, he’s a matchup nightmare. He’s too big for corners to handle and too fast for linebackers to track. Then, when he has the ball in his hands he runs like a running back. At the 2A classification, it’s borderline unfair. The Charlotte commit chose the 49ers over a slew of Group of Five and FCS offers and could have an immediate impact in 2021.
84. Marcus Gatling Marcus Gatling 5'11" | 200 lbs | LB Havelock | 2021 State NC , 5’11 200, Havelock, LB
We were given Gatling’s name when he was a relative unknown on the recruiting trail. But Gatling’s junior film is one of the most impressive tapes I’ve seen from a linebacker since covering high school football. He’s a bit undersized but his instincts at linebacker are off the charts, not to mention his quickness and decisiveness are each elite for a middle linebacker. When he diagnoses a play, it looks like he’s been shot out of a cannon.
83. Jonathan Cannon Jonathan Cannon 6'4" | 240 lbs | DL Vance | 2021 State NC , 6’4 240, Vance, DL
A slightly undersized 2-way lineman, Cannon projects as a high-D1 defensive lineman. He’s got the frame to add plenty more weight and if he keeps the quickness he displays on film he will be a force at the college level. He already holds offers from most of the major Group of Five schools in the area including Charlotte, Georgia State and Coastal Carolina. With one more year of development he’s likely to be a hot commodity on the recruiting trail.
82. Jahaad Scales Jahaad Scales 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB Glenn | 2021 NC , 6’ 185, Glenn, DB
A big-hitter that played mostly corner on Glenn’s talented defense, Scales actually projects as a safety at the next level. The Old Dominion commit can play all over the secondary and is a highlight waiting to happen on any play. Glenn plays almost exclusively zone coverage and Scales is best in a center field role. That being said, we think he has the athleticism to excel in man or even press man, if given the opportunity.
81. Tyrell Davis Tyrell Davis 6'1" | 180 lbs | DB Hickory Ridge | 2021 State NC , 6’1 180, Hickory Ridge, DB
If you were to run into Davis at a grocery store or Walmart, even an untrained eye would guess he’s a standout defensive back, he just looks the part. Davis has good height, long arms and excellent ball skills, so he excels in a free safety role. When he needs to get downhill though, he does in a hurry. We featured Davis in our FBS Sleepers article and wouldn’t be surprised to see a Power Five school come calling at some point.
