The Sun Devils made a statement last year when they signed all three top recruits out of Sacramento in the 2020 class including Elijah Badger (4-star ATH out of Folsom HS), Daniyel Ngata (4-star RB also out of Folsom HS), and Omarr Norman-Lott (4-star DT out of Grant HS). Recently, they have offered three of the top rising sophomores in the area with Rico Flores Rico Flores 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH Folsom | 2023 State CA Jr. (ATH out of Folsom HS), Simione Pale Simione Pale 6'4" | 310 lbs | OL Elk Grove | 2023 State CA (OL/DL out of Elk Grove HS), and Carlos Wilson (ATH out of Inderkum HS). With a growing pipeline to Tempe and a stacked 2023 class in Sacramento, it wouldn’t be surprising to see that list of offers expand. Here’s an in-depth look at the three recently offered prospects.
Rico Flores Rico Flores 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH Folsom | 2023 State CA Jr., ATH, 6’1 185 lbs., Folsom HS
After transferring from Capital Christian HS to powerhouse Folsom HS, Flores is looking to show off his offseason improvement and be another top recruit in the Folsom system. Scouts noticed his talent and raw athleticism early when he was selected as Pro Football Hall of Fame All-American as an eighth-grader. In addition to a nice growth spurt, he has continued to develop his technique and fundamentals on both sides of the ball. That combined with his speed, quickness, and ball skills make him a threat all over the field. This ASU offer is just the beginning for him with the potential and upside to be a national recruit.
Simione Pale Simione Pale 6'4" | 310 lbs | OL Elk Grove | 2023 State CA , OL, 6’3 300 lbs., Elk Grove HS
The big 6’3 300 lb. guard had two PAC12 offers come on the same day from ASU and Utah. He possesses a strong punch and is very powerful at POA with a lot of natural strength in his lower half. He plays with great leverage and pad level maintaining a good base throughout his blocks. Shows plus athleticism and lateral mobility when pulling and working to the second level. Colleges will love his toughness, aggression, and ability to finish his blocks through the whistle. He’s got a great frame to build on as he develops and shows the potential to be an elite prospect.
Carlos Wilson, ATH, 6’0 165 lbs., Inderkum HS
A smooth and natural athlete that is an explosive playmaker on both sides. On offense, he is a threat every time he touches the ball at both RB and slot. He shows great elusiveness in the open field using his quick feet, acceleration, and lateral agility to make quick cuts around defenders. Wilson is a strong cover corner where he can use his change of direction and quick hips to transition well out of his backpedal. He continues to develop his route recognition and anticipation with added game experience. He’s very effective in the return game as well and ran several kicks back for TDs in the 2019 season. He has a bright future ahead of him and ASU is the first of many to offer him.
