Continue ReadingSomehow, someway, the Wisconsin Badgers chose not to offer Wauwatosa East’s 6’6 285 lb. OT Marcus Mbow Marcus Mbow 6'5" | 310 lbs | OL Wauwatosa East | 2021 State WI . Despite an overwhelming and unstoppable punch, an insatiable need to put defenders hard into the turf, and good technique in run-blocking as well as pass-pro the Badgers made the mistake of missing out on a phenomenal talent with sky-high potential. Luckily, tons of other Division 1 and Power-5 schools saw that potential and chose to offer the 2021 stud PrepRedzoneWI #6 overall and #2 offensive lineman in the state. Mbow holds scholarship offers from Iowa State, Nebraska, Purdue, Iowa, Wyoming, Western Kentucky, Toldeo, Central Michigan, Buffalo, Michigan State, West Virginia, Indiana, Virginia, Arizona State, and Nebraska, and four days ago announced his Final Five of Michigan State, Arizona State, Virginia, Iowa State, and Nebraska. I don’t mean to focus on a non-offer for Tosa East’s standout lineman, but it really is surprising seeing how easy Mbow plays the position, his upside, and his overwhelming rating as one of the best OL in Wisconsin for 2021. Nevertheless, Mbow 100% has the potential to play on Sunday’s, and will make whatever team he decides to commit to a very happy program. PrepRedzoneWI was more than excited when we got a few minutes to discuss with Marcus some of his best games as a prep so far, how it felt to receive some of his first offers, what stood out about some of his finalists, and more. Thanks for reading! Junior Highlights
PrepRedzoneWI: Hello and thank you for your time, Marcus. Please begin by telling us a little bit about yourself. When did you begin playing football? What is your favorite part about the sport?
Mbow: “I started playing football in middle school but I really started taking (the sport) serious this season and lifting 11 months ago. Favorite part is building relationships and domination.”
PRzWI: What were some of your best performances so far for Tosa East?
Mbow: “Best performance was Oconomowoc. I was just dominating the whole game stopping (their) trash talk.”
PRzWI: What can we expect from you and East this upcoming season?
Mbow: “You can expect from me to be a whole lot more technically sound player and the players around to me to be as well.”
PRzWI: How did it feel to receive that first offer from Iowa State back in September? How did it happen?
Mbow: “It felt great and was a complete shock and something I never thought would happen. When I got the ISU scholarship it happened when I took my first visit there and was in a 1 on 1 meeting with (Head Coach) Coach Campbell.”
PRzWI: How about the other offers? What stood out to you in-regards to some of the finalists?
Mbow: “It also felt great with the other offers but I only got a very immediate and special feeling when Iowa, Nebraska, and Arizona State offered me.”
Commitment coming soon! Stay tuned with PrepRedzoneWI!
