Because of of his impressive skills, we knew Watson would be playing somewhere next fall. Now we know exactly where.
Wednesday, Watson announced in a video posted on social media that he had verbally committed to Fresno State of the Mountain Conference. Why the Bulldogs? Watson pointed to two key reasons.
“The factors that drove this were the relationships I built with the (FSU) coaching staff and the way I would fit like a puzzle piece in their system. I am being recruited as a hybrid tight end.”
Besides FSU, Watson’s long list of offers include Air Force, Army, Liberty, New Mexico, New Mexico State and Texas State. Fresno State offered him on May 11.
“When I told them over Zoom, they (FSU coaches) were fired up,” Watson said. “I called the head coach and he literally jumped out of his chair. That really made me feel like I made the right decision.”
An integral part of Cleveland’s high-powered offense, Watson and his Storm teammates won’t kick off the 2020 season until early March due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
“I would describe myself as a versatile athlete who is aggressive in the run and pass games and a threat to catch the deep ball,” Watson said.
