We caught up with getting to know Trent, what his elevator pitch was for his new school, and a whole lot more!
Get to Know Trent Hollings
When I first watched the film on Hollings, I love his first step off the snap as he makes his way and finds the ball. When chatting with Hollings he told me his biggest strengths were being an underrated blocker, possessing good hands, solid strength, and wheeler speed which checks out for sure when you watch the tape of the current Division II prospect.
Bests at The WR/TE Position
“The swag of running routes and catching deep balls,” is what makes Hollings tick on the football field. When you watch his tape, you see his route variety does have a swagger to it that once he gets the football he knows it’s time to get the ball upfield as quickly as he can.
Looking Ahead
Hollings brings the approach of having no 2020 season to allow him to keep working for 2021. “I can do some things like clean up my routes, etc.,” Hollings told Prepredzone.com along putting to work his outstanding hands and great blocking to even farther links of improvement.
Elevator Pitch
Here is what Hollings had to say to the coaches that may be reading his elevator pitch to what could be his next program:
I was the captain of my football team during my senior year so I believe I have that leadership that brings everybody together and the attitude that everyone is held accountable no matter what.
Work Ons
This offseason and during quarantine, Hollings has focused on his routes, catching the football and his footwork in various tight end blocking schemes as those were the tools that Minnetonka Skippers football program told him to work on most while in his senior year while transitioning to east coast Division II football.
Trent’s Mentors
When Hollings was going thru Minnetonka High School, he connected with former Minnetonka Skippers DB Nehemiah Montague Nehemiah Montague DB Minnetonka | 2018 State MN who currently plays football for the Sycamores at Indiana State to be that person he looked up to. Montague’s commitment to hard work, dedication after practice is over, holding his teammates accountable, and the ability to study hard in the books are reasons why he started to model his game as a student-athlete and as a gentleman, after the likes of Montague. Montague, was a first-team all-metro performer for Minnetonka and his defense of the Skippers only allowed 13 points per game in their trip to the 6A Championship game.
2020 Goals
As for goals for this year, Hollings has some goals to start wherever he lands and if not, to push himself to play in 4-5 games depending on the season length that’s out there. He said he’s looking at all options right now, where he can “make some plays” and is also looking at Division I programs as he enters the transfer portal.
