Here are six 2021 prospects that currently do not have an FBS or FCS offer, but are capable of getting a scholarship and playing at that level.
- WR Marcus Hardy – Hammond Morton HS
This kid can Play! Long and athletic wide receiver that can stretch the field and beat you over the top. A lot of WR prospects with his frame struggle with making defenders miss in space after catching the ball, but that is not the case with Hardy. He’s a short, intermediate, and deep ball threat. I love his burst, body control, and ability to gain yards after the catch. Marcus is not afraid to mix it up while blocking in the run game either. On top of it all, he is a serious redzone threat with his height and ball skills. FBS prospect that would be an absolute steal for any team under the FCS level.
- ATH Leyton McGovern – Center Grove HS
Big time athlete with a big time frame. Leyton has the combination of size and athleticism that D1 teams covet. I’m not sure what position will play at the next level, but he is definitely something!! Has the versatility to play anything from WR to DE in college. He is a standout on the basketball court as well, and as a college football coach I would consider recruiting him off that film alone. He has the talent, frame, and potential to be a difference maker at the next level.
- DB Tavarious Jones – Snider HS
Tavarious was also featured in our Rise & Fire camp article. I already had him on my list of top IN prospects without D1 offers before that, so I didn’t want to leave him off of this list just because I saw him this past weekend. What he lacks in height, he makes up for in strength and athleticism. Every college is looking for kids who can play man to man coverage and that is his specialty. Great feet, balance, quickness, and very competitive. Division 1 teams with a need for a kid that can flat out cover need to give him a look.
- TE/H Felix Meeks – Crown Point HS
Felix does have a scholarship offer, but not at the D1 level right now. Back in the days of pro style offenses and grind it out football, this is a prospect who would most likely have multiple offers as a fullback/H type at this point Not every offense uses a guy like Felix, but he is a great prospect for any team that uses a move Tight End or Fullback. Thick body that moves very well at his size. Has potential as a blocker in the run game, and as a receiver in the pass game at the next level. His best football is definitely in front of him, and I see him as a guy that should at least be an FCS scholarship prospect.
- ATH Bryce Hendershot – Tri-West Hendricks HS
Like Leyton, Bryce is another prospect with a great combination of frame and athleticism. The eye ball test is so important when it comes to the college recruiting process, and he definitely passes that. He could play a number of positions at the college level, but I think his highest upside will probably come as a OLB or DE. His straight line speed is really impressive for a 220+ pound HS player. You see him pull away from defenders half his size on the regular. Surprisingly, there a number of these big ATH types that get overlooked simply because college coaches don’t know what position they will play at the next level. A coaching staff may love a prospect and want them on their team, but when you have position coaches who are only able to take one/two prospects a year at their position, they can be hesitant to recruit players that could wind up at another position group. The good thing for Bryce, and prospects like him, is that these players tend to get multiple D1 offers when it is all said and done. I imagine that will be the case with Bryce.
- Connor Delp – Center Grove HS
Multi tool player that can line up at just about any skill position on offense. He is fun to watch when the ball is in his hands and I love his ability to make defenders miss in space. He is extremely quick, has great balance, and is a threat to score whenever he touches the ball. Connor is a prospect that would have benefited from college camps this summer and I have a feeling he would have at least picked up an FCS offer if they happened. Definitely a prospect to watch out for in the coming season.
