Continue ReadingAs a class of 2023 prospect, it is far more common to be under 6’0 tall in comparison to that of the older classes. In recent articles, we have already covered some of the best players under 6’0 tall in the state of Georgia. Specifically, we have covered various DB’s in the 2023 class who have stellar ability, and also happen to be a bit shorter. Due to this, we will refrain from mentioning obvious talents such as Avieon Terrell Avieon Terrell 5'10" | 155 lbs | DB Westlake | 2023 State GA , Michael Daugherty Michael Daugherty 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Grayson | 2023 State GA , Bryce Thornton Bryce Thornton 5'11" | 190 lbs | DB Milton | 2023 State GA , and Caleb Downs Caleb Downs 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Mill Creek | 2023 State GA due to their previous coverage. With further ado, here’s some more of the top players within the 2023 class who are already making a name for themselves despite their size.
Justice Haynes Justice Haynes 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Buford | 2023 State GA (RB)- 5’8 170- Blessed Trinity
Standing at 5’8, Justice Haynes Justice Haynes 5'10" | 205 lbs | RB Buford | 2023 State GA still finds a way to run powerfully. As a 2023 prospect, he has already found himself in the lineup at Blessed Trinity, and makes an impact on the ground by smoothly sifting through the defense with his patient North/South running style. Despite his listed size, his frame appears to be very good for his age, and he also does not appear to be thin. The thick body type will help him as a RB as he continues to run the football aggressively. Haynes is a developing RB who shows flashes of patience and vision. Paired with this, he already shows to be a force to reckon with as he bowls over defenders. It’s no surprise his 5 offers are from Power 5 schools.
Jayden Drayton Jayden Drayton 5'10" | 155 lbs | WR Brunswick | 2023 State GA (WR)- 5’10 155- Glynn Academy
Jayden Drayton Jayden Drayton 5'10" | 155 lbs | WR Brunswick | 2023 State GA is a little known and underrated WR prospect in the state of Georgia. While he takes snaps in the slot, he shows the burst change of direction, and short area quickness that you would like in a WR. His twitch and ability to change direction has a huge impact in his game and makes up for his lack of height and size. While he can be seen to be a bit of a shorter prospect, he will continue to develop and grow into his body within the next few years of his high school career, and he will gain more exposure as well. As he goes into his sophomore year, it is crucial for him to work on fluidity in his movement as well as conditioning.
Daiquan White Daiquan White 5'10" | 160 lbs | DB Creekside | 2023 State GA (CB)- 5’10 155 Creekside
As a rising Sophomore, Daiquan White Daiquan White 5'10" | 160 lbs | DB Creekside | 2023 State GA has already received 6 Power 5 offers. These offers are nothing to overlook as they come from schools such as Florida State, West Virginia, Tennessee, Boston College, Virginia Tech, and Georgia Tech. Despite his size, White is already playing CB at a high fundamental level. Not only does he already display desirable length, but he plays at the hip pocket of the WR’s. With this, he doesn’t get bowled over by ball carriers, and he can hold his own in coverage. His footwork and hips put him in good placement to burst out of his breaks and make plays on the ball. All of these traits will continue to become even more of a positive impact for him in his coming years in high school, and you can expect him to receive more attention because of it.
Tyler Hunnicutt Tyler Hunnicutt 5'9" | 150 lbs | RB Mount Pisgah | 2023 State GA (RB)- 5’9 150 Mount Pisgah
Tyler Hunnicutt Tyler Hunnicutt 5'9" | 150 lbs | RB Mount Pisgah | 2023 State GA is another underrated prospect within the class of 2023. While there is plenty of time for him to gain exposure, he is not receiving much attention at this stage of his high school career. As a freshman, Tyler Hunnicutt Tyler Hunnicutt 5'9" | 150 lbs | RB Mount Pisgah | 2023 State GA is listed to be 5’9 150 pounds, but appears to have a thicker frame than that of his actual weight. This frame makes him appear as if he is already a sophomore or junior in high school. This alone is impressive. One thing that stands out when watching Hunnicutt’s film is that he continuously finds a way to get to the end zone. He is not an overly twitchy or quick running back, rather, he runs very strong, and at a good pad level. His ability to run downhill and run through contact makes him very hard to bring down. With this, Hunnicutt is already a proven commodity in his offense’s passing game because he can block as well. Going into next season, if Hunnicutt builds on to his early success, it will be no surprise if he starts to gain attention.
