The county just north of Fulton County, home of Atlanta, Forsyth County isn’t one to pump out prospects on a yearly basis. Just over 10 years ago there were only three public high schools in the county, now there are six high schools with another being built. The population continues to grow in Forsyth County, and so does the football talent.
Here are a few notable prospects in Forsyth County to keep an eye on this upcoming season.
Dylan Fairchild Dylan Fairchild 6'5" | 300 lbs | OL West Forsyth | 2021 State GA – West Forsyth – Offensive line- Class of 2021 (Committed to Georgia)
As for top prospects in the county, it all starts with big Dylan Fairchild Dylan Fairchild 6'5" | 300 lbs | OL West Forsyth | 2021 State GA . The powerful 6-foot-5 300-pound lineman is also a state champion wrestler in the heavyweight division. There aren’t many at 300-pounds who can move like Fairchild. Not only does he have great upper and lower body strength, he moves like a cat and has come a long way with his footwork. He’s a warrior in the weight room and one of the hardest workers you’ll see across the state.
Fairchild played on both lines of scrimmage for the Wolverines last fall, and he might play more defensive line again in 2020, but he’ll be an offensive lineman in Athens down the road.
Aaron McLaughlin Aaron McLaughlin 6'5" | 210 lbs | QB Denmark | 2021 State GA – Denmark – Quarterback – Class of 2021 (Committed to N.C State)
If you follow high school football in Georgia, you know all about McLaughlin by now. The big 6-foot-5 220-pounder started his freshman and sophomore seasons at Buford before transferring to Denmark for his junior season. He’s been on the recruiting scene for a while now due to his size and arm strength. He does a nice job of throwing guys open and putting touch on his passes, but he still needs to work on being consistently accurate and his overall mobility. Overall, he’s a solid signal caller who has a chance to put up big numbers as a senior.
Kojo Antwi Kojo Antwi 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Lambert | 2022 State GA – Lambert – Wide Receiver – Class of 2022
There’s a lot to like about the 6-foot-1 185-pound wide-out from Lambert. Antwi is a guy with reliable hands, he’s an above average route runner, and he’s got decent speed for a possession receiver. He shows good body control and the ability to stretch a defense down the field. The Longhorns struggles often in the 2019 season, but Antwi was always a reliable option on offense. He’s physical, he can break tackles down the field, and he can help on special teams as well.
If the Longhorns can feed him the ball a little more this fall, Antwi could end up being one of the state’s leading receivers in 2020. He currently holds offers from LSU, Auburn, Wisconsin, Southern Cal, Texas, Penn State, Georgia, among others.
Canaan Clark – Forsyth Central – Defensive Line – Class of 2021
One of the top defensive line prospects in the region, the Forsyth Central Bulldog is a force in the middle at 6-foot-6 310-pounds. Committed to East Carolina, Clark is still a little raw and needs time to develop and work on his mechanics, but he’s a big body who moves well for a guy his size. He plays with good leverage and has some length on him, but he needs to transform his body and drop some weight if he wants to reach his potential, and there’s plenty of it. He’s able to overpower smaller linemen in this region and has made plays on both defense and special teams. If he develops the right way moving forward, he’s got the potential to be a nice player at the next level.
