The Eagles have produced multiple NFL players over the past decade, and there’s a chance they could have one or two more future NFL stars on the current roster. The Eagles are believed to be the favorite to win the Class 7A Region 5, and they’ll have the talent this year to make it happen.
Here are a few prospects to know at Milton for the 2020 season.
Lebbeus “LT” Overton – Defensive End – Class of 2023
The Eagles produced current NFL player Carl Lawson in 2012, and they might have their next great defensive lineman in Overton. The transfer from Alabama certainly looks the part already at 6-foot-4 240-pounds, and he has the talent to go along with his size. He’s quick off the ball, athletic, and one of the stronger players on the entire defense. He already holds early offers from Georgia, Florida, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, among others. He is expected to have a breakout sophomore season this fall.
Bryce Thornton Bryce Thornton 5'11" | 190 lbs | DB Milton | 2023 State GA – Cornerback – Class of 2023
Another super sophomore for the Eagles, Thornton earned a significant amount of playing time last season as a freshman, holding his own against some of the state’s top receivers. He has good size for his age at 5-foot-11 185-pounds, and he showed impressive footwork and quickness at practice. His father played football at the University of Georgia, where his mother played basketball. He has great genes and is looking to make a name for himself on a national stage after another big season.
Zyere Horton – Defensive back – Class of 2022
If there’s one breakout star on defense for the Eagles, it’s Horton. The 6-foot-3 195-pounder is long, athletic, and really proving himself on this team. He played more and more last season as a sophomore, and he’s on a breakout path right now as we head to the 2020 season. At practice, he showed good ball skills, he was fluid in drill work, and showed nice footwork. He looks the part physically, and if the Eagles were allowed to practice in the spring, he almost certainly would have earned some offers. They’ll come eventually, and they’ll come in bunches.
Devin Farrell Devin Farrell 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Milton | 2022 State GA – Quarterback – Class of 2022
The 5-foot-11 190-pound two-sport athlete didn’t start until game 6 last year for the Eagles, but put up some quality numbers, going 91/149 for 1,056 yards and 8 touchdowns. He also rushed 104 times for 793 yards and 7 touchdowns. As a prospect, the athleticism stands out first, but he’s also shifty, he’s quick, and he’s great with the ball in his hands. As a passer, he has nice pocket presence for someone his age, using nice footwork to buy time and wait for something to open up down the field. He’s accurate in short-yardage throws but has some nice touch on the ball when pushing it down-field.
