Here are a few quarterbacks who could see their recruitment take off after a big season this fall.
AJ Swann – Cherokee
If there’s one QB in north Georgia who should have a bigger offer sheet, it’s the 6-foot-3 195-pounder out of Cherokee. Swann is a big kid who shows he’s able to be mobile in the pocket. He throws well on the run, and really grew up a lot at quarterback last year as a sophomore. Swann was 188/314 for 2,399 yards and 20 TDs, leading his Warriors team to an 8-5 record. He holds one offer from Troy with interest from many other Power 5 schools. Swann still needs to focus on his accuracy and continue developing as a passer, but the arm talent is there, and he has a chance to really blow up this fall with a big junior season.
Zach Roszman – Walton
The 6-foot-3 205-pounder has come a long way since taking over at quarterback at the end of his freshman year in 2018. Now, he’s ready to lead the Raiders back to a deep playoff run. He’s been shown interest from Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt, but his arm talent should earn him an impressive offer sheet down the road. He’s got a live arm, throws a great deep ball, and will have an opportunity to carry the ball and show how mobile he is as a junior. He’s working hard at turning his hips into his throws and his overall pocket presence. Look for Roszman to enjoy some new weapons on offense this year and put up some great numbers, leading to offers at the end of the season.
Thomas Castellanos Thomas Castellanos 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB Ware County | 2022 State GA – Ware County
If you’re in South Georgia, Ware County (GA) QB/ATH Thomas Castellanos Thomas Castellanos 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB Ware County | 2022 State GA is a prospect to go see this fall. One of the most exciting players to watch in the entire state, Castellanos is a true playmaker at QB with this dual-threat skill-set. He’s extremely quick with great footwork. The 2022 prospect can make defenders miss with ease and turn a broken play into something special. He would be an excellent option at WR or DB at the D1 level as well, but his above-average arm and big play ability could keep him at QB for programs looking for a dual-threat type of quarterback.
He’s not the biggest guy at 5-foot-11 195-pounds, but he’s just a sophomore so he’ll continue to grow. As he puts on muscle and develops more arm strength, Castellanos should be able to impress multiple programs down the road and be able to make a name for himself at the next level. Georgia Tech, Kansas, and Akron have all offered with more likely coming soon.
Tyler Hughes Tyler Hughes 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Marietta | 2022 State GA – Marietta
After the Blue Devils lost senior quarterback Harrison Bailey, 2022 QB Tyler Hughes Tyler Hughes 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Marietta | 2022 State GA will be stepping up to try and fill Bailey’s legendary shoes. With zero current offers, Hughes is a dual-threat quarterback who throws a really pretty ball. Hughes is progressing each and every day at quarterback. He’s mobile, athletic, and he has impressive, raw arm talent. As he continues to develop as a passer and strengthens his arm, Hughes could see some offers start coming way once he gets some film out. This is his year to shine, and there’s a good chance he’ll meet expectations as a starter in his junior season.
