The competition featured over 100 Quarterbacks from all over the country including Texas, Hawaii, Louisiana, Colorado, Arizona and other western states. The range of talent went from Power 5 conference commits to quarterbacks with no offers.
Past winners of the competition include Ryan Hilinski from Orange Lutheran High School, who is now at South Carolina, and Jayden de Laura of Washington State.
“Power 5 program commits and D1 offered QBs were everywhere I looked. But I told myself over and over throughout the day Orange County has put out some outstanding QBs through the years,” Moussiaux said. “I felt like we know how to grind. It was great competing against some of the best. At the end of the day when they put that King of the Desert belt around my waist, I was just so pumped up.”

Being named MVP of the competition was obviously crucial for an under-recruited quarterback like Moussiaux, but what was almost as important was the networking he got to do. He got to mingle with various quarterbacks and receivers and talk to college scouts.
He has seen an increase in interest from colleges since the event. Prior to the competition, Moussiaux had an offer from Division 2 Lake Erie College and he has heard from various schools since the event.
“At one point I was talking with a couple of QBs from Texas and Bo Kelly (Dana Hills). We discussed how much fun it was to finally be able to get on a football field and compete against all these really good quarterbacks,” Moussiaux said. “I had received some interest prior to winning the competition, and now after it appears the interest has increased from schools including Cal, Montana State, Mississippi State, University of Nevada Reno, San Jose State, UCLA and the University of Alabama Birmingham.”

As a junior at Capo Valley, Moussiaux had the second most passing yards in the competitive South Coast League (2139) and threw 20 touchdown passes. This season, he will play under second year head coach Sean Curtis and new offensive coordinator Dan Selway in the Sea View League.
“I am really excited to be playing in the Sea View league this season. I think that the teams in this league are evenly matched and I feel confident our team will surprise a lot of people,” Moussiaux said. “I believe that if our team can play balanced football on offense and play the an aggressive Capo style of defense, we will have a good chance at competing for the Sea View league title.”
The Sea View League consists of Aliso Niguel, Capo Valley, El Toro and Trabuco Hills. Moussiaux threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns in a nonleague win against Trabuco Hills last season and 307 yards and five touchdowns against El Toro.
Capo Valley and Aliso Niguel did not play last season, but the two schools had a rivalry up until recently and are 7-7 against one another dating back to 2004.
Moussiaux will play with three returning starting offensive linemen, running back Hayden Cook, and potential breakout star receiver Dane Benedix Dane Benedix 6'0" | 170 lbs | ATH Capistrano Valley | 2023 State CA .
