The QBs we’re about to highlight all bring something different to the table, whether it be picking you apart from the pocket or ripping off long runs down the field, these five dual-threats are special in their own right and are all primed for breakout seasons when football resumes in February.
Benji Moore, 5’11” 185lbs, Solorio ’21
A phenomenal athlete who can hurt you with his arm or feet—pick your poison. Moore turns into an RB—a very good RB—when he decides to break the pocket. Has the speed and quickness to destroy a defender’s angle along with the elusiveness to routinely make defenders miss. Fundamentally sound and possesses the necessary mechanics a QB needs to play at the next level. Quickly gets through his progressions and gets the ball out even quicker. A very skilled and accurate passer with tremendous pocket presence. Moves the defense with his eyes and consistently throws a catchable ball.
Terry Barnett, 6’3″ 190lbs, Prospectives ’21
Barnett is a long and lanky QB who can eat up yards down the field with his long stride. Although his frame doesn’t suggest it, he’s a hard runner when he decides to tuck and go. While in the pocket, he puts pressure on opposing secondaries with the ability to drive the ball down the field. Knows how to put the right amount of touch on his passes and can fit the ball in tight windows when needed.
Steve Sweeten, 6’1″ 161lbs, Brooks ’21
Sweeten is more than capable of escaping the pocket and making defenders pay with his legs, but after evaluating his film, I think he much rather pick you apart from the pocket. Poised in the pocket and doesn’t get rattled under pressure. A natural thrower of the football with tight mechanics and is deadly accurate intermediately and down the field. Can pick a defense apart when he has time to set his feet and let it rip.
Sacchi Edouard, 6’2″ 170lbs, Mather ’21
Sacchi is a savvy QB with an innovative style of play. He frequently turns broken plays into significant gains as a result of extending the play with his feet. A good play action QB who loves to rollout to his right. Very effective when throwing on the run and won’t hesitate to take off an run with his unorthodox running style.
