It was easy for spectators to get tunnel vision with the high profile names in the stacked senior class. That is, however, until the young ballers started to steal the spotlight.
Below is a list of six highly talented young players who are making names for themselves as future superstars.
Brayden Dorman Brayden Dorman 6'5" | 200 lbs | QB Vista Ridge | 2023 State CO – Vista Ridge – QB
It came as quite a shock to learn that Dorman is in this class. The 6-foot-4, 185lbs quarterback looks and plays like a three-year starter. Not only is he accurate, but he also has a very impressive touch that he puts on all of his passes. He made more than a few jaw-dropping throws that left spectators stunned. It was clear that he is the type of QB who works to develop strong chemistry with his receivers, trusting to make a play on a well-placed jump ball. Because of his overall talent, Dorman has already received an offer to play at the next level for Iowa State University. There are no limits to this young player’s potential.
Brandon Hills Brandon Hills 5'9" | 150 lbs | WR Vista Ridge | 2023 State CO – Vista Ridge – ATH
Bradon “Bebe” Hills is a special type of athlete. He lines up all over the field and is capable of making plays as a receiver, running back, cornerback, and safety. His speed off of the line makes him a danger for any type of coverage, while his athleticism makes him a prime passing target for a quarterback. Hills has received an offer from New Mexico Highlands University, the first of many to come for this highly talented player.
Marté Russell – Cherry Creek – QB
Russell is an absolute competitor with the talent and skill to be a true game-changer. He is an extremely accurate passer with a very strong arm who made some impressive throws during Smoky’s run in the tournament. The young quarterback showed that he is more than capable of competing with anyone, adding to his stock value as a potential candidate for the QB1 spot on the roster of the reigning 5A state champs. Russell is a special player with an exciting future, do not sleep on him.
Gavin Jenkins Gavin Jenkins 6'4" | 195 lbs | WR Vista Ridge | 2023 State CO – Vista Ridge – WR
Jenkins is a fun receiver to watch. At 6-foot-3 and 185lbs, he is a perfect target on the outside. His explosiveness off of the line forces opponents to play soft-man in order to avoid getting beat on the release. Jenkins’ specialty seemed to be his ability to win one-on-one jump balls, even when matched up against really good defenders. He also produces a lot of power off of his insteps when coming out of his breaks, which helps to create instant separation. Jenkins is, without a doubt, a standout player.
DJ Collins-Boston – Rangeview – WR/DB
This tough young player is one to watch. He is a speedy receiver with a strong release and great acceleration in and out of his breaks. As a ball carrier, Collins-Boston has excellent vision. He plays with an intensely focused demeanor, especially on defense, and seems to have a plan for every matchup. Collins-Boston is a for sure standout.
Keyshawn Dooley – Vista Ridge – WR/DB
Dooley is the type of player who standouts strictly off of his work ethic. His playmaking abilities are extremely underrated on offense and defense. There were a couple of matchups during the tournament where he was able to perform as a lockdown corner as well as an unstoppable receiver. Dooley is quick and athletic with great hands, making him an absolute stud as a slot receiver. This player’s name deserves to be added to any watchlist, he won’t be a sleeper for much longer.
