Continue ReadingArizona has been a constant gold mine for talented QB’s. In 2020, the competition will be even more fierce and look to shape and mold Arizona’s next top QB’s. These prospects thrive on competition and look to make the most out of their opportunity. Here’s a look at the future leaders of Arizona high school football:
Nicco Marchiol Nicco Marchiol 6'2" | 220 lbs | QB Hamilton | 2022 State AZ , 6’2″ 215lbs.
Hamilton HS (Class of 2022)
Marchiol is a new face in AZ, but will make his presence felt on day one. After an outstanding sophomore season at his previous school Regis Jesuit (Aurora, CO), the southpaw looks to make an immediate impact at Hamilton. He shows elite arm strength and accuracy on every throw. Marchiol possesses a very quick release and has excellent timing with his reads and throws. He has proved that he will sit in the pocket and take big hits to make clutch throws. He shows mobility as well by being able to get to the sticks with his legs on slow developing plays. Expect a very big junior season from Marchiol.
Adryan Lara Adryan Lara 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Desert Edge | 2022 State AZ , 6’2″ 195lbs.
Desert Edge HS (Class of 2022)
Lara is a phenomenal athlete and consistently proves he is a threat in the air and on the ground. The incoming junior displays great arm strength in the pocket and is patient for plays to develop. His ability to get out of pressure and make plays is outstanding. He makes athletic, off-balance, and on the move throws look easy. He seems to have a good understanding of coverages and makes accurate reads as well. On the ground, Lara has impressive speed and elusiveness which makes him a big play threat on every play. Lara is one of the most electric players in Arizona, so be ready to hear his name frequently throughout the next two years.
Treyson Bourguet Treyson Bourguet 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Salpointe Catholic | 2022 State AZ , 6’2″ 185lbs.
Salpointe Catholic HS (Class of 2022)
Treyson is an extremely smart and athletic QB. He shows his ability to go through his progression and does not turn the ball over. He shows that he can deliver the ball in the pocket and displays good arm strength. He is a threat on his feet, by showing his mobility often. Treyson can make plays out of busted plays by finding receivers or by taking off and gaining yards. He has great ball carrier vision and has good speed. He is committed to UofA, so keep an eye out for Treyson to be a big name in Tucson for a long time.
Angel Flores Angel Flores 6'0" | 210 lbs | QB Casa Grande Union | 2022 State AZ , 6’0″ 210lbs.
Casa Grande Union HS (Class of 2022)
Angel is a huge sleeper in Arizona. Along with a ton of potential, he is an extremely talented kid and plays with chip on his shoulder. He possesses great poise, and excels on his ability to step up and move around the pocket. He makes quick reads and is able to get the ball out fast. He has shown he can be a threat on the ground by both running designed read option and taking off when nothing is open. Angel could definitely have a breakout season and deserves high attention from everyone in Arizona.
Devon Dampier Devon Dampier 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Saguaro | 2023 State AZ , 5’10”, 165lbs.
Pinnacle HS (Class of 2023)
Coming into his sophomore year, Devon established himself as a leader and gained massive respect from many across Arizona. Dampier was forced to start as a Freshman after standout senior J.D. Johnson was told he could no longer play contact sports due to a rare heart condition. Dampier possesses raw talent and is the future top name in the state of Arizona. Despite his age, Dampier plays like a mature QB by consistently showing excellent footwork and throwing mechanics. He shows the ability to throw on the run in both directions and make off-balance throws. He is a threat on the ground and in the air. Pinnacle has been a QB factory in the past with their previous 3 starters at major Division 1 programs, so expect Dampier to follow in the tracks of Brian Lewerke, Spencer Rattler, and J.D. Johnson.
