Here are a few prospects to know in the region for the 2020 season.
Cody Brown Cody Brown 6'0" | 211 lbs | RB Parkview | 2021 State GA – Running Back – Parkview – Class of 2021
You can make the argument that Brown is the best running back prospect in the entire state. After bursting onto the scene as a sophomore, Brown rushed for over 1,000 yards again as a junior, leading Parkview deep into the 2019 playoffs last fall. The 6-foot-0 225-pound Tennessee commitment is a big, bruising back who moves the chains and consistently breaks tackles. He’s not the fastest guy, but he has great lower body strength and has some shiftiness to his game. He’s a back who can take a lot of carries and will be physically ready to play in the SEC from day one. He’s a power back who will be able to get tough yards in-between the tackles and is excellent in short-yardage situations. Expect Brown to finish off his excellent high school career with another big season rushing the ball.
Nyland Green Nyland Green 6'3" | 180 lbs | DB Newton | 2021 State GA – Cornerback – Newton – Class of 2021
One of the top cornerback prospects in the country, Green is a long, athletic 6-foot-2 185-pound cornerback with elite ball skills. He’s great in press coverage and knows how to get physical against bigger receivers. He’s fundamentally sound, has great footwork, and really knows how to cover. He can help out on offense and special teams, but he has the potential to be a lock-down cornerback prospect at the next level. He’s a hard worker and the film speaks for itself. He does a great job of making a play on the football, and once he’s got the ball, he’s always a threat to take it back for a score. Not only does he consistently make plays, but his length and ability to cover taller receivers could help him see the field early on at the next level. The Newton star holds offers from programs across the country, and he’ll likely choose between Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, and Tennessee.
Marquis Killebrew-Groves – CB/WR – Brookwood – Class of 2022
One of the highest-ranked 2022 prospects in the country, Groves-Killebrew is a pure athlete who is expected to be a major weapon on both sides of the field for the Broncos. At 6-foot-1 180-pounder, Killebrew has great size for a cornerback with the technique and fundamentals to back it up. He started as a sophomore for the powerful Grayson Rams in 2019, and more than held his own against some of the state’s top receivers. Groves-Killebrew is committed to play at Georgia and will be one of the higher-ranked CB prospects in the entire 2022 class.
Carlos Del-Rio – QB – McEachern – Class of 2021
Del Rio is a true gunslinger who is thought of as one of the nation’s best in the 2021 class. Del Rio came onto the recruiting scene early on after some early success at McEachern, but now the 6-foot-3 215-pounder will suit up for the powerhouse Grayson Rams this fall. Del Rio has a strong arm, and he’s a threat running the football. Del Rio committed to play at Florida back in July of 2019. He’ll have a ton of weapons at his disposal this fall so there’s a good chance he ends his fantastic high school career with a deep playoff run.
