Six Talented 2021 Prospects Without an FBS Offer
Often, high school recruits with an abundance of talent tend to go unnoticed for an abundance of reasons. It’s Prep Redzone’s job to get these prospects on the map and help them get noticed by college coaches and recruiters! So without further ado, here are six talented senior prospects with an FBS offer.
Dresyn Green Dresyn Green 5'10" | 160 lbs | RB State College | 2021 PA – 5’9″, 170lbs, RB/CB, C/O 2021
We start with Dresyn Green Dresyn Green 5'10" | 160 lbs | RB State College | 2021 PA out of State College High School. Dre contributes as a running back and defensive back for State, who’s film shows a great overall athlete who thrives with the ball in his hands. Green, who also plays basketball for State, accumulated 1200+ rushing yards and 21 total touchdowns this past season, as well as recording 64 tackles and 6 interceptions on the defensive side of the ball. Green is a home-run hitting player on offense, displaying awesome acceleration once reaching the second level of the defense. He’s a smart and efficient runner who understands how to set up his blocks behind the line of scrimmage to create lanes into the secondary, where he can show off his change of direction ability and elusiveness. He can be trusted to catch the ball out of the backfield as well as impact block as a lead blocker on sweeps and in pass protection. He plays safety with a ton of anticipation, showing the ability to take away short/intermediate routes taken in front of him. His solid ball skills transfer to the defensive side where he loves to sit and play passing lanes to intercept passes. At what position can Green thrive in at the next level is the question. His weight isn’t necessarily ideal to play running back, but he still has time to put on some pounds. He doesn’t have the ideal height you would like to see from your defensive back either. One thing that’s for sure is no body limitations have stopped Green from producing thus far.
Eddy Tillman Eddy Tillman 5'8" | 165 lbs | RB Central Catholic | 2021 PA – 5’8″, 165lbs, RB/CB, C/O 2021
Eddy Tillman Eddy Tillman 5'8" | 165 lbs | RB Central Catholic | 2021 PA finds himself in the same light as Green, an undersized prospect who undoubtedly produces at a high level. Tillman, a player who I think deserves to climb our rankings, made the 6A 1st-team All-Conference team this past season, surmounting 2000+ total scrimmage yards and 26 total touchdowns. The scoring machine displays incredible balance behind the line of scrimmage and when hitting the hole. He’s isn’t to be thrown off his path by arm tackles or clutter in the trenches, not losing a step in acceleration even through the slimmest of holes. Tillman’s speed and overall explosiveness caught defenders by surprise seemingly every game. He brings a stocky, low to the ground feel to each run but he is far from a one-dimensional player. He can bounce runs to the outside and turn on the jets to outright blow by the secondary. There wasn’t much film showing off his pass-catching abilities which is a bit of a downside to an otherwise stellar tape. Nonetheless, Tillman looks to be a promising back who’s frame, shorter and lighter than Green’s, carries itself better than it may seem.
Omari Hopkins Omari Hopkins 6'1" | 175 lbs | WR Bishop McDevitt | 2021 PA – 6’2″, 175lbs, WR/CB, C/O 2021
Hopkins is the rawest of the prospects on this list. Despite a slight lack in production compared to others mentioned above, there are traits within Hopkins that make him a prime breakout player candidate. Hopkins primarily plays outside the numbers where he can do his best to beat defenders downfield with his speed. He sets up his vertical routes well off the line of scrimmage, particularly against press coverage. Although he could benefit by fine-tuning his get-off, as he tends to get ahead of himself and skip crucial technique. His size comes in handy when attacking downfield. He has a natural feel for playing vertical, tracking the ball, and timing his jumps well. There’s a ton of room for improvement for Hopkins. He doesn’t show much after the catch on a consistent basis but there are flashes on film where he can be slippery after catching the ball for short gains. He also shows the ability to consistently catch the ball away from his body on routes under 15 yards and contributes as a willing blocker when not involved in a play.
D’Shaun Seals D’Shaun Seals 5'5" | 140 lbs | WR Imhotep Institue | 2021 PA – 5’7″, 155lbs, WR/PR, C/O 2021
No FBS offers for Seals is a bit of a head-scratcher. There’s no doubting he has a slight frame, standing at just 5’7″ as a senior but this kid can absolutely break a game wide open in a blink of an eye. Seals saw 40+ receptions and 700+ receiving yards this past season where he also wreaked havoc as a return man for Imhotep. Seals is one of the most elusive players in the Philadelphia region and that’s including all classes. He primarily plays out of the slot but contributes almost everywhere on the field, returning punts and kickoffs, catching bubble screens behind the line of scrimmage, and even taking snaps under center as a “wild-cat” quarterback. The point is clear, Imhotep does its best job getting Seals the ball early and often. He displays great balance in and out of cuts, which combined with his speed, makes him a hard cover when attempting double moves. He isn’t just a speedster, as he has put some spectacular catches in traffic on film. His overall field awareness is a plus as well, he adept at making defenders miss because of his awesome awareness of where everyone is on the field at all times. His height-weight combination is all that’s holding this kid back.
C.J. Robbins – 6’0″, 175lbs, CB/WR, C/O 2021
Robbins has the ideal body frame that many on this list lack but the production at Baldwin High is lacking. Robbins is an outside lane wideout who displays good footwork and good acceleration necessary to beat press coverage. High pointing the ball on both offense and defense is a major plus. He can be relied on in jump-ball situations which is where he thrives. Where I see Robbins making the most noise at the next level is at corner. If he can refine his technique as a defensive back, I think the sky is the limit for this kid. He flashes good route recognition, sticking his foot in the turf and breaking on the ball swiftly on routes breaking in front of him. I’d really like to see Robbins trust himself more often when being taken downfield. His hips tend to open the wrong way occasionally and his footwork goes out the window once the opponent makes it known they are going vertical. He can’t rely on his ball skills and leaping ability play in and play out especially when talking about FBS-level talent. His size and balls skills make him a prospect we will have our eye on this coming season. Growth at either position will help see more offers come his way.
Gary Satterwhite Gary Satterwhite 6'1" | 285 lbs | OL Farrell Area | 2021 PA – 6’2″, 290lbs, C/NG, C/O 2021
Last but not least is Gary Satterwhite Gary Satterwhite 6'1" | 285 lbs | OL Farrell Area | 2021 PA , a position-versatile lineman who absolutely dominates when run blocking. Satterwhite primarily plays center but has given Farrell High reps at guard and tackle. His get off after his snap is really impressive. Play in and play out, Satterwhite displays great hand placement and lower body strength to drive his opponent off the ball. He isn’t the most athletic prospect but athleticism isn’t his game. When you have this kind of strength and also play inside, you don’t need to flash outstanding footwork and flexibility, you can dominate defenders in front of you which is exactly what Satterwhite does. He is a monster in the run game as noted above, however there isn’t much film on his pass protection ability at any position along the offensive line for whatever the reason. Consistent pass protection even at the center spot is going to go along way as far as raising his stock to the FBS level. His senior tape is going to be just as fun to watch as his junior tape was so long as Satterwhite continues to flatten defenders in the run game.
