A few other Southern California quarterbacks have elected to transfer to other states that will be playing football in the fall, but Costelli will stay at Mission Viejo until he graduates mid-year.
Earlier this week, Jake Garcia Jake Garcia 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB La Habra | 2021 State CA announced that he is transferring to Valdosta High in Georgia to play football in the spring before enrolling at USC early and uncommitted quarterback Cole Lavin transferred from Newport Harbor High to Brighton High in Utah.
“I think I’ll stay here and train and graduate early,” Costelli told Steve Fryer of the Orange County Register. “Graduating early always has been my top priority so I can get ready for college football. It (stinks) that I can’t play my senior season.”

Costelli said there are too many unknown variables to transferring to a different state such as eligibility and uncertainty of the schedule due to COVID-19.
“And what if I go to another school and after they start school they have to shut down?” Costelli said.
Costelli threw 23 touchdown passes and ran for four touchdowns and led Mission Viejo to the CIF-SS Open Division semifinals last season.
Three San Diego Stars Commit
Running back Nico Estrada from Mater Dei Catholic High in Chula Vista committed to Idaho Thursday.
Estrada rushed for 1,306 yards and 14 touchdowns for Kearny High in San Diego last season in just nine games. He announced on June 17 that he and his brother Cruz, a quarterback transferred to Mater Dei Catholic.
He cited the relationship with the coaching staff, particularly coach Paul Petrino, and the high graduation rate among football players as the reason for his decision.
Torrey Pines athlete Matthew Lauter committed to Boise State Thursday.
Lauter was recruited as a tight end and was offered Wednesday after visiting the campus. He caught 20 passes for 316 yards and three touchdowns for the Falcons last season. Lauter had a 33-yard touchdown catch against Los Alamitos and a 26-yard touchdown catch against Rancho Bernardo. He also had an offer from UNLV.

Cathedral Catholic quarterback DJ Ralph committed to New Mexico State Thursday.
Ralph is 6-foot-3, 200 pounds and threw seven touchdown passes and ran for nine touchdowns last season.
He is the first quarterback in New Mexico State’s 2021 recruiting class and the third overall player in the class.
Centennial 2023 star lands Pac 12 offer
Centennial of Corona defensive back Jaden Mickey Jaden Mickey 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Centennial - Corona | 2022 State CA was offered by Cal Wednesday.
Cal is the sixth Pac 12 school to offer Mickey, joining Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, USC and Utah. He holds 12 offers total.
Mickey led the Huskies with six interceptions as a sophomore last season and had two interception returns for touchdowns.

Corona del Mar lineman commits to Army
Corona del Mar lineman Thomas Bouda announced his commitment to Army Saturday.
Bouda piled up accolades as a junior. He was Second Team All-County, All-CIF and the Sunset League Lineman of the Year. He also played for the CIF-Division 1A State Champions.
He had eight offers including Big Sky Schools Cal Poly, Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona and Sacramento State.
