Blue Chip Potential
The class of 2023 in Ohio is loaded with young and exceptional talent all around the State. The cream will always rise to the top, and that is what you will see today. Here are some of the best 2023 prospects to watch in Ohio.
Luke Montgomery Luke Montgomery 6'4" | 295 lbs | OL Findlay | 2023 State OH
6’5- 257lbs
Findlay – DE/OT:
Luke is one of the best prospects I’ve seen in Northwest Ohio since James Hudson. Luke came to my attention during his 8th-grade season when I saw film of him taking jet sweeps and scoring many touchdowns. He was a man amongst boys, but his athleticism is what stood out for a kid his size. Montgomery has a lot of potential and much more room to grow with a frame like his. Luke is a power five prospect; he can be a very special OT or DE. Former Tennesse Titans OLB coach is now the head coach at Findlay, which Montgomery will surely benefit from having a Head Coach like Matt Pees as a resource.
6’5 – 245
Mentor – DE
Vernon is what you call a beast, and this is a kid who has all the tools mixed with size at an early age. The Mentor football program regularly has big-time D1 prospecting coming out year after year, but this could be one of the biggest they have seen in a while. Vernon’s ability to breakdown the zone read and make the correct play is phenomenal for an athlete that age. His physical attributes are also off the charts, which is why he already holds P5 offers. Has the potential to win Mr. Football in Ohio his senior year.
Trevor Carter Trevor Carter 6'2" | 205 lbs | ATH Ironton | 2023 State OH
6’2 190
Ironton – ATH
Carter stood out on film right away, and his ability to run the football with speed, vision, and power were on display. Trevor is one of those natural athletes who already had the talent, but his work ethic is what makes him a Blue Chip prospect. His size gives me the notion that he will be one of the best LB prospects in the nation by the time he is a senior. Trevor will be a household name on all recruiting boards soon.
Hezekiah Hudson-Davis Hezekiah Hudson-Davis 5'8" | 170 lbs | RB Trotwood-Madison | 2024 AL
5’8 165
Trotwood – RB
Hudson-Davis is a smart and quick running back for the Trotwood Rams. Trotwood has produced many top players over the past decade, and things are looking good for the future. Running back is a position of vision mixed with patience and explosiveness; Hezekiah can give you all of that. Having early varsity reps gives you an advantage because the game will completely slow down each season to follow. Hudson-Davis is a unique talent to watch and could be one of the top backs come his senior season.
Armon Johnson
5’8 170
Whitmer – ATH
Armon Johnson is one of the most complete athletes when it comes to skill sets. Johnson showed flashes of brilliance while getting varsity reps at Toledo Central Catholic before he transferred. His aggressiveness and burst are uncommon for athletes his age, but his IQ when he has the ball in his hands makes him extremely lethal. Expect to see a full showcase of this star in the making behind a big offensive line led by Bryce Keller. Elite talent.
