Let’s take a look at some games and players to watch for tonight.
Sioux Center (4-0) vs. Central Lyon/GLR (4-0)
It’s a battle of undefeated teams in Class 2A tonight; Sioux Center will take on Central Lyon/GLR.
Players to Watch
Sioux Center’s rushing attack – In order, carries, total yards, yards per carry, and touchdowns. These guys have been dominant this season, pushing Sioux Center’s record to 4-0.
#1, Zachary Rozeboom, JR | 55 | 355 | 6.5 | 2
#3, Ernesto Cardenas, SR | 37 | 134 | 3.6 | 0
#6, Lane Kamerman, SR | 21 | 153 | 7.3 | 3
#9, Matthew Bomgaars, SR | 32 | 276 | 8.6 | 3 |
Sioux Center’s offensive line – You can put up these numbers on the ground without an offensive line that can hold their own. When you watch the film, these guys are pushing defensive lines all around the field.
Josh Riibe, Central Lyon/GLR – We just mentioned how good the Sioux Center offensive line has been. That makes Riibe and his defensive teammates’ job just a little bit harder this week. They will need to get a push upfront.
Kayden Van Berkum, Central Lyon/GLR – The old saying ‘defense wins championships’, so we will stay with two defensive players. The sophomore Van Berkum has 3.5 tackles for a loss this season, and to keep Sioux Center from running away with this game, he will need a couple of those tonight.
Central Lyon/GLR will do the same things offensively as Sioux Center will. The key to this game will be what defense can find a way to stop the other offense. Hopefully, the defenses got plenty of water this week to prepare because they will be on the field for long periods. Neither of these teams scores quickly, and the clock will be running most of the game.
