Nick Amoroso, Montville, Sr. — Amoroso made timely plays on defense last year for the Montville Mustangs. He had four interceptions on the season, all in the first four games, and he had an interception return for a score in a win over Jefferson. Amoroso also had 11 tackles against Morris Hills. While he will make some plays on offense, his contributions on the defensive end will be key to Montville having another winning season.
Gary Lewis, Delbarton, Sr. – Lewis is a very capable two-way player for the Green Wave. He had a strong junior campaign for Delbarton at wide receiver and cornerback. He finished with 58 receptions for 775 yards and six touchdowns. He reached 100-plus yards three times, including a 151-yard performance in the season finale against Notre Dame. Lewis had a whopping 17 receptions against Seton Hall Prep last October. He is a player with great speed and can make a number of plays down the field. Lewis has the capability of making defenders miss on any play, and once he finds a hole he has no issues with finding the end zone. He makes plays on kickoff/punt return and is one of the more experienced players in the county. With quarterback Cole Freeman back, Lewis is expected to have a strong senior season.
Declan McKevitt, Mendham, Sr. – McKevitt is a tight end/defensive end who will be playing at the next level. He has been a huge spark for the Minutemen the last three years. McKevitt simply goes about his business on the football field. With a good frame at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, McKevitt is a tough cover for Morris County opponents simply because of his size. He is a good blocker and he makes plays on both ends.
Jordan Thompson Jordan Thompson 6'3" | ATH Parsippany Hills | 2021 State NJ , Parsippany Hills, Sr. – Parsippany Hills has been a winning program in recent years. The Vikings are usually competitive, and the credit there goes to strong coaching and the players they have every year. Thompson, a Division I prospect, is a player every coach wants. As a junior, he made tons of plays on both ends. Thompson made 27 receptions for 541 yards and nine scores. On defense, Thompson finished with 15 sacks on the year – thanks to a six-sack performance in a win over River Dell and a four-sack performance in a victory over Hanover Park. Thompson will be a top player in the area this season.
Danny Portas, Boonton, Sr. – Portas can make plays in the air and on the ground at quarterback for the Bombers. Portas fits into Boonton’s ground-and-pound style very well while also making some good throws. He knows how to pick up yardage and Boonton’s option packages allow him to control the pace of the game.
