Here are some of the best games to keep an eye on in week 4 of the season.
Colquit County vs. Valdosta
One of the biggest games in South Georgia is finally here. Former Colquit County head coach Rush Propst will lead his new Valdosta team in a giant 7A matchup. The Wildcats of Valdosta, one of the most iconic football programs in the entire country, will be led at quarterback by new transfer Jake Garcia, who is committed to play football at USC. On defense, the Wildcats have an impressive junior cornerback, JaDarian Rhym, coving the back end. He should have his hands full with Colquit wideout Lemeke Brockington Lemeke Brockington 5'11" | 185 lbs | WR Colquitt County | 2021 State GA , a big-play waiting to happen and one of the top receivers in the state. He is committed to play for Minnesota.
Mill Creek at Brookwood
The 2-0 Brookwood Broncos are coming off two wild come-from-behind victories to start the season led by sophomore quarterback, Dylan Lonergan Dylan Lonergan 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Brookwood | 2023 State GA . They’ve got some magic in the 4th quarter and they might need it again against another quality Mill Creek team. The Hawks of Mill Creek will lean on their defense in this game led by sophomore safety Caleb Down, one of the top 2023 prospects in the country. Downs will be lining up against some of the state’s top junior receivers in Brookwood’s DeNylon Morrissete and Sam Mbake. If the Hawks come out with a victory, it means Downs did his job on the back end and helped stop Brookwood’s high powered passing attack.
Walton at West Forsyth
After losing a heartbreaker to Brookwood last week, the Walton Raiders will look to bounce back on the road against a strong West Forsyth group. The Wolverines, like the Raiders, are 1-1 and are looking to get back in the win column. The big matchup here will be Walton defensive back Marcus Allen Marcus Allen 6'2" | 165 lbs | DB Walton | 2022 State GA going against West Forsyth tight end Oscar Delp Oscar Delp 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE West Forsyth | 2022 State GA . Both players have seen their recruitment take off in recent weeks and both have a chance to play in the SEC at the next level. If the Raiders can contain Delp throughout the game, they’ll have a great shot at coming out with the win. If the Wolverines can establish the run with senior running back Daba Fofana, a Navy commitment, they should be able to win the time of possession and take it down to the wire.
