Not only does Grayson typically have the win/loss record to support this statement, but the amount of players in which the program sends to the next level of play speaks for itself.
During the 2019 season, Grayson came up a bit shorter than it wanted to. In the playoffs, the team lost to Lowndes High School in the third round of the playoffs. The final score was 28-20. Lowndes would eventually go on to win a few more games and would find themselves coming in second place in the state championship to Marietta. This year, they hope to be able to improve upon their success last season, and find a way to make a breakthrough, and final push to the state championship.
Lucky enough, the program did not lose too many key players to graduation. Two of the only key players in which the program will be missing this season includes WR Ryan King, who is now playing for Georgia Tech, and MLB Logan Daniels. Unfortunately, the program did lose Marquis Grove’s Killebrew due to his transfer to Brookwood High School
In 2020, Grayson will be returning multiple players who will not only make a difference for their team, but will eventually find themselves playing at the next level. To start, star RB, Phil Mafah Phil Mafah 6'1" | 213 lbs | RB Grayson | 2021 State GA will be returning for his senior year. Along with this, WR’s, DaeDae Reynolds, and Jayvian Allen will also be returning. The defensive side of the ball will continue to dominate, as players such as Sebastian Sagar, Terian Williams, and Jaidan Jackson will also be lining up for Grayson this upcoming season. Defensive players such as Michael Daugherty Michael Daugherty 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Grayson | 2023 State GA , Noah Collins and Victoine Brown Victoine Brown 6'4" | 228 lbs | DL Grayson | 2021 State GA will also be hoping to make a positive impact on the defensive side of the ball.
On paper, Grayson is clearly a championship contender. This season will show us if they can find a way to make it happen, and if they truly are good enough to be state champions.
