Continue ReadingThis past Sunday in Wilmette, Illinois, a smaller group of prospects were on hand to attend the first in series of Sunday Showcases hosted by Edgy Tim. The camp was very well put together, socially distant and the players were brought in waves so getting a chance to see them was very easy. Here are the group of tight ends, running backs and linebackers that stood out Sunday evening. Just a warning, the theme of this group was raw, unrefined talent among the smallest sized group of the night.
MVP – Aleks Popovic – 2022 TE – Lake Zurich
Popovic stood out like a sore thumb in comparison to his group. He is physically very well put together, has very quick feet and runs well. Popovic caught the ball well during 1-on-1’s, ran solid routes and showed after the catch he could pull away from defenders. Already has some Division 1 interest.
Best of the rest:
Logan Linderman – 2021 LB – Loyola
One of the best physically looking prospects on Sunday. I was shocked to find out he was tight end last year, the transition has looked like it’s going to pay off. Moved very well during drills and ran a solid fourty time. I want to see how he looks reading defenses, but the physical ability is there.
Joshua Brown – 2022 RB – Willowbrook
Make it two for two with Brown impressing me. His frame really stands out, he’s build well with a thick lower body. His strong legs gives him good balance and Brown adds some good footwork with that. Isn’t the fastest back, but can get faster.
Cliff Janvier – 2021 LB – Evanston
He might be outshined by his teammate, Sebastian Cheeks Sebastian Cheeks 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Evanston | 2022 State IL , but Janvier has talent as well. He is raw, but has some good athletic qualities, quick feet, and moves well laterally. Has solid build, but a good frame to add more weight. I like the potential for Janvier although it might not be at linebacker, he might be suited better as a free safety.
Marcus Ray – 2022 RB – Leo
Raw, raw, raw. Ray has a lot of talent but needs some coaching. His footwork and change of direction are impressive for someone who hasn’t gotten much outside coaching, this was his first camp. He wants to get better, as the stayed to work with the wide receivers later. If he takes what he learned and translates it over when the hitting starts, he can develop into a very good player.
