Florida 1A Region 3: Wide Receiver Prospects
With the 2020 season starting, I wanted to start spotlighting some prospects from every classification in Florida. A lot of times these kids get overlooked because they don’t play at big schools, and I feel that they deserve the spotlight and the opportunity to be seen by college coaches as well. It is important that we highlight as many prospects as possible. At Prep Redzone Florida, we are different than most sites where we want to emphasize guys that are not being heavily recruited and try to promote them, so they also get an opportunity to play in college and get the exposure they need and deserve!
Ni’ckel Freeman- Lafayette c/o 22
6’1 180lbs
Freeman is a top prospect for the class of 22, he has amazing leaping ability and body control. He goes up and gets the ball with ease and has an outstanding catch radius. Freeman’s film is pretty amazing to watch, he makes catch after catch of high pointing the ball, he uses his body extremely well to shield off defenders and make catches, he has great balance and sideline awareness and shows good speed as well. He is a definite FBS Prospect.

DJ Coston- Hilliard c/o 22
6’0 175lbs
Coston is a good Prospect and shows good sideline balance and also returns kicks. He has breakaway speed which was evident watching his kick return for a touchdown. As a receiver he mainly plays in the slot and consistently got behind defenses for long touchdowns. He has deceptive route running ability and is a big play threat. Last season he had 22 catches for 525 yards and 10 touchdowns!

Zechariah Jones- Madison County
6’2 175lbs
Jones has a smooth stride running routes and has really good hands. He has a tremendous ability to high point the ball and go up over defensive backs for catches, has strong hands, he also plays defensive back, but I see him translating to a receiver at the next level.

Jason Sheffield- Hilliard
6’4 185lbs
Sheffield has prototype College receiver size, he also shows speed to get deep on long routes and possesses good hands. He does show the ability for a big receiver to drop his hips and get in and out of his breaks. Sheffield shows good body control and has a big catch radius. He’s definitely a nice prospect and a player coaches should take notice of.

Kolton Hunt- Dixie County
5’10 160lbs
Hunt reminds me of Wes Welker, he’s a crafty route runner and shows reliable hands. He plays in the triple option offense, but makes the most out of his opportunities when passes comes his way. He has good quickness and also doubles as a free safety. Hunt’s a really good athlete that had nine catches for 222 yards and three touchdowns last season.
