Only one season removed from a 1-win campaign, the Knights have fired off three-straight wins to start the season. Leading the surge has been a three-headed trio on offense and a few key defenders who all could see new attention in the recruiting world.
Carson Lathem, QB, Class of 2022
In his first season as the starter behind center, Lathem has yet to show any signs of hesitation. The 5-foot-11, 150-pound athlete completed 18-for-23 passes for 241 yards and four touchdowns. He found three different receivers for scores and showed excellent decision making in River Ridge’s spread attack. On the season, Lathem has completed 63 percent (35-for-55) of his passes for 492 yards for six touchdowns.
River Ridge keeps rollin’@carson_lathem hits Preston Cox on the skinny post.
This team is gonna put up some points this fall.

Jackson Head, WR/TE, Class of 2023
Possibly the best prospect on River Ridge’s roster, Head showed why he should be garnering attention from college recruiters. The six-foot-three, 205-pound sophomore caught five balls for 90 yards and two scores. He did all his damage in the first half and on the season Head has amassed 14 catches for 249 yards with three scores. An excellent athlete who shines on the basketball court as well, it seems he may only be scratching the surface of his potential on the gridiron.
This kid is gonna get noticed sooner rather than later.@JacksonHead13 scores his second TD of the first half, this time on a 43-yard score. Excellent balance to finish this play.

RB, Amehre Morrison, Class of 2022
It should say something that on a week where Morrison gained 127 yards and a score his performance wasn’t exceptional by his standards. What he lacks in size (5’8” and 165 pounds) he makes up for with his vision and speed. The 127 yards on the ground was his lowest output of the season, as the speedy junior has amassed 506 yards on 59 carries (8.5 per carry). His 25-yard score in the third quarter put the finishing touch on a River Ridge victory and his rushing totals could touch school records before his career is over.
DE, Brian Bradley, Class of 2022
With an excellent frame (6’3”, 210 pounds) Bradley could be a sleeper prospect on the defensive front. Seems to have an excellent nose for the ball and sheds blocks well from all three positions along the defensive line. He was equally disruptive in both the rushing and passing game. Has drawn attention from Ivy League schools.
Hunter Deriso, LB, Class of 2021
Cherokee County’s leading sack artist so far this season picked up another on Friday night. The six-foot, 220 outside linebacker has begun his senior season looking like one of the better edge playmakers in the area. Sheds blocks well and plays downhill well against the run and pass. Looks to have the ability to play at the next level.
