Sprayberry will have one final tune-up game before beginning region play and it will be against one of the best teams in the state.
The Yellow Jackets (0-1) fell 48-30 at home to North Cobb in their season opener and the task will get no easier this week as they travel to Suwannee to take on Collins Hill (1-0). Collins Hill — the No. 5-ranked team in 7A — defeated Carrollton (ranked No. 9 in 6A) 46-24 in its season opener last Saturday.
Sprayberry fell behind early against North Cobb, trailing 27-3 by the end of the first quarter, but closed the gap in the second half. Senior running back Damarion Owens led the way for the Yellow Jackets, finishing with 171 yards on 23 carries with two touchdowns.
Owens (5’10″ and 200 lbs.) was the leading rusher in Cobb County during the regular season in 2019 with 1,687 yards and is possibly one of the most underrated running back prospects in the state. Holds one offer from Reinhardt University but has the ability to play at the FCS level or possibly higher.

Sprayberry faced a Division 1 quarterback prospect last week with North Cobb’s Malachi Singleton Malachi Singleton 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB North Cobb | 2023 State GA and will see another highly-touted signal caller this week. Collins Hill junior Sam Horn Sam Horn 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Collins Hill | 2022 State GA is the No. 5-ranked quarterback prospect in the state of Georgia in our ’22 rankings. He began his season looking the part, as he finished 27-for-40 passing for 364 yards against Carrollton. He holds offers from Tennesee, Georgia Tech and Kentucky among others.
Horn has an excellent primary target on the outside as well. Florida State commit Travis Hunter Travis Hunter 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Collins Hill | 2022 State GA — the No. 3-ranked prospect in the state in our ’22 rankings — finished with eight catches for 185 yards and three touchdowns. Hunter also recorded an interception on defense and is committed to Florida State as a defensive back.
Sprayberry will likely need to establish Owens early and often to keep Collins Hill’s offense on the sideline for as long as possible. Sprayberry finished with 288 rushing yards against North Cobb and Owens was complimented well by Isaiah Abbey, who finished with 49 yards on six carries. If not, expect Horn and Hunter to continue to put up big numbers. This will be the second of six non-region games on Collins Hill’s schedule and a possible tune-up before next week’s showdown with No. 1-ranked Grayson.
