- DL Popeye Williams Popeye Williams 6'3" | 220 lbs | DL Westfield | 2022 State IN , Westfield
When Westfield and Brownsburg meet on Friday, there will be no shortage of big time players on the field. With QB Ben Easters Ben Easters 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Brownsburg | 2021 State IN , and the WR tandem of Luke Lacy and Preston Terrell Preston Terrell 6'2" | 182 lbs | WR Columbus North | 2021 State IN , Brownsburg features one of the most talented passing games in the state. They also have an explosive running game with the emergence of sophomore RB Caleb Marcus Caleb Marcus 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Brownsburg | 2023 State IN . This is why I have chosen 2022 Westfield DL Popeye Williams Popeye Williams 6'3" | 220 lbs | DL Westfield | 2022 State IN as the impact player in this game. In order for Westfield to slow down the Brownsburg offense, they cannot allow Easters to get comfortable in the pocket, as it is only a matter of time before Brownsburg’s WR’s get open. It will be Popeye Williams Popeye Williams 6'3" | 220 lbs | DL Westfield | 2022 State IN ’ job to collapse the pocket and apply pressure every time Easters drops back. Williams excels at getting in the opponents backfield… If he can get TFL’s on early downs and force Brownsburg into obvious pass situations, he will be able to go into full pass rush mode where he’s virtually unblockable. This should be a great game, and the bigger the impact Popeye has in this game, the better the chances are for Westfield to to come out on top.
- RB Omarion Dixon Omarion Dixon 6'0" | 205 lbs | RB Harrison | 2021 State IN , Harrison
The game between Harrison and Roncalli looks pretty even on paper. Both teams rely on strong running games and are led by talented Sr running backs. I believe the team that controls the clock, and runs the ball with the most consistency, will be the one that comes out on top. For Harrison to win this game, they will need to do it behind the legs of their senior RB, Omarion Dixon Omarion Dixon 6'0" | 205 lbs | RB Harrison | 2021 State IN . Dixon comes into this game with 841 yards / 14 TD’s on the ground, and has gone for over 100 yards in every game this season. On top of that, no team has kept him out of the end zone this season. Listed at 6’1″ 225 pounds, Dixon is a load to bring down. He averages over 8 yards a carry on the year. Not only is he a bruiser with a punishing style of running, his skill-set is unique for a back his size with the ability to hit the big run. The Roncalli D is going to need to play fundamentally sound football, and tackle with great technique in order top contain Dixon early on in the game. If they do not, and Harrison is able to jump out to an early lead, they will be able to utilize their downhill running game to control the clock and play keep away.
- WR/DB Joseph Faubion, Lutheran
With an explosive offense that averages over 42 points per game, and a defense that has only given up 20 total points the last 4 games, Lutheran has been absolutely dominant on the season. After losing their first game of the year, Northview has been on a roll themselves, led by the phenomenal play of their defense. When analyzing this game from a stats perspective, you will see that Northview has had their most success when forcing turnovers, limiting their own turnovers, and limiting opponents scoring opportunities. Northview’s recipe for success may sound simple enough, until you factor in the play of Lutheran’s Joseph Faubion. Faubion has excelled in every area that has given Northview troubles this season. He is yet to turn the ball over on the year, has been a ball-hawk on defense with 6 interceptions, and has excelled at creating scoring opportunities for Lutheran. In order for Northview to have a chance in this game, it will be all about stopping Faubion from making plays on both sides of the ball, and that is no easy task.
- RB Anthony Ransford, Clinton Central
It isn’t often that you see two undefeated teams matchup this far into the season, but that is exactly what we will see when Clinton Central and Eastern face off during week 6. Eastern’s D has been phenomenal with 4 shutouts in 5 games. Clinton Central on the other hand has been winning with an offense that is scoring more points each week. Through 3 games, Central RB Anthony Ransford has run for 422 yards and 7 TD’s. The Sr RB is averaging over 10 yards per carry and will need to keep rolling in order for Central to come out on top. The ironic part about this matchup is that Ransford has scored more TD’s by himself, than the Eastern D has given up the entire season. Something will have to give when these two face off on Friday night… Will it be the suffocating Defense of Eastern, or the running game of Clinton Central? This should be an entertaining one!
