Unfortunately, there are also some players who go unrecognized for reasons such as size, size of school, or team record. There are sleepers all across the football map, but here are some key guys that should no longer go unnoticed:
Earnest Greenwood Earnest Greenwood 5'7" | 160 lbs | RB Goldwater | 2021 State AZ , ATH., 5’7″ 160lbs.
Goldwater HS
Don’t let his size scare you away, Greenwood plays with a high motor and will go toe to toe with anyone. As one of the best athletes on the field, he displays a great ability to stretch the field and uses his breakaway speed to make big plays. He can run routes from slot and out of the backfield while showing good hands. He is very dangerous in open space by possessing great lateral agility and shiftiness with his speed. On defense, he has good play recognition and doesn’t hesitate to fly up and stop ball carriers before the sticks. He is a threat at kick and punt return as well by being able to find the small gaps and burst through, making him a step away from a house call. Greenwood may possibly be the most underrated player in Arizona, and he deserves a number of looks from recruiters.
Jaylen Elliott Jaylen Elliott 6'3" | 190 lbs | QB Valley Lutheran | 2021 AZ , QB, 6’3″ 190lbs.
Valley Lutheran HS
Jaylen is a very energetic dual threat QB. Due to the size of his school, it has been difficult to gain exposure. However, Jaylen holds immense potential an shows his athleticism consistently. He is extremely lethal on the ground by showing very great speed and the ability to be a game changer. He moves lateral very well as a ball carrier and has to be played careful as he doesn’t hesitate to take off and run if his receivers aren’t open. Jaylen delivers accurate throws on the run in both directions. He is extremely athletic and can easily transition into multiple positions at the college level. Jaylen will be a workhorse this season, so look for him to bring needed attention his way.
Kam Cullimore Kam Cullimore 5'11" | 200 lbs | LB Highland | 2021 State AZ , LB, 5’11″ 200lbs.
Highland HS
Kam is a hard nosed, gritty LB that has no off-switch. He shows good play recognition skills along with good instincts. Kam shows very good speed at LB and shows high athleticism when he attacks ball carriers. His speed and quick instincts give him the ability to stick ball carriers at or before the line of scrimmage very often. He has exceptional strength and will only continue to get stronger. Kam has a “set-the-tone” mentality by laying big, clean hits often. He will have a big role on the Highland defense this season and is prone for a big year as he continues to get even better.
Mikey Castro Mikey Castro 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Seton Catholic | 2022 State AZ , RB, 5’9″ 170lbs.
Seton Catholic HS
Castro shows good speed and reads blocks very well. Castro can be a threat in the air as well by showing the ability to catch the ball and run routes out of the backfield. Castro has very good balance and vision, and is best used as an all purpose RB. He shows a good football IQ and high potential. He could definitely have a big season, so look Castro’s way to be a key man in the Seton Catholic offense.
Bryce Cord, ATH., 5’10″ 160lbs.
Sunrise Mountain HS
Bryce is an extremely athletic player who can play anywhere on the field. As a RB, Bryce runs very aggressive and loves contact. He is scrappy and will fight for extra yards or do everything to get to the sticks. As a slot, Bryce can run good routes and is very strong for his size which provides him the ability to stay on blocks. He has solid hands and seems to have a good understanding of coverages. On defense, he is best used as a DB and can play as both corner and safety. He can prevent big plays and shows potential to play multiple positions at the college level.
