On Friday night, the defending 5A champion Mill Valley battled the defending 6A state champion Derby at Mill Valley High School.  In a game that featured two of the best football programs in the state, Mill Valley won big 45-14 and are off to a great start as they try to repeat as 5A state champions in 2020.  Here are some of the offensive and defensive standouts from the game.


Cooper Marsh QB Mill Valley

Senior QB Cooper Marsh proved to be a very effective leader of the offense as he led his team to a 35-7 lead at halftime.  During the game, he threw for 174 yards and a TD while showing his ability as a dual threat QB as he rushed for 112 yards on 18 carries and 3 TD.  Throughout the game, Cooper showed great ability to deliver the ball with great accuracy and touch on short, intermediate and deep routes in all areas of the field.  In addition, he was very difficult to stop on QB design runs where he ran for big gains on numerous occasions.
