A few prospects saw their recruitment take off after a big week one performance, and some took advantage of being a first-time starter. Here are a few players to watch out for who have big matchups in week two tonight.
Malaki Starks Malaki Starks 6'1" | 195 lbs | ATH Jefferson | 2022 State GA – ATH – Jefferson
One of the state’s top overall 2022 prospects, Starks is making his season debut in a big way tonight. The 6-foot-2 190-pounder will be playing QB for Jefferson on offense and then turning around and playing safety for the Dragons on defense. He can play receiver if he needs too, but he’ll be playing QB in tonight’s season opener. He’ll be a player to watch as he’ll be all over the field the entire game. Starks currently holds offers from Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, among others.
Tyre West – DL – Tift County
Another elite 2022 target, West has a chance to prove he’s one of the nation’s best against a great Valdosta Wildcat offense led by high four-star QB, Jake Garcia. This could be the most pass-happy team West sees all year, so he’ll have plenty of chances to get to the QB in sack situations. He’s one of the higher-ranked defensive lineman in the country for the 2022 class and has a chance to prove it this weekend. He’ll need a big game if Tift County wants to pull the upset.
Amehre Morrison – RB – River Ridge
The up and coming running back from Woodstock is coming off a career game in week one, rushing for 225 yards and 4 touchdowns on just 14 carries. His junior season started off with a bang, and he’ll go up against a strong Woodstock defense led by four-star safety and Georgia commitment, David Daniel David Daniel 6'3" | 190 lbs | DB Woodstock | 2021 State GA . Morrison can prove that last week wasn’t a fluke with another monster game this weekend. Right now Morrison can be considered one of the more underrated running backs in North Georgia.
Oscar Delp Oscar Delp 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE West Forsyth | 2022 State GA – TE – West Forsyth
The 6-foot-4 220-pounder had his coming out party in last week’s season opener, catching two touchdown passes in a big win over Mays in the Corky Kell Classic. Delp’s life changed after that game as he picked up offers from Michigan, Minnesota, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, among others. All eyes will be on him in week 2 as the Wolverines head west to take on the always powerful Cartersville Hurricanes. The ’Canes are always strong on defense, and Delp has a chance to earn even more offers with a strong performance against Cartersville.
